Shifting when ascending

Today my 2000 Ranger 3.0 230k did not shift when going up hill when it usually does. It seemed to be a prolonged shift. It didn't slip. This was after hauling some heavy stuff. I thought I felt the trans struggle once when I was hauling at low speed. I thought I hear gears clicking and I thought I felt them struggle. About 300 pounds of steel in the bed. After a long haul of about 400-500 pounds. Any tips or suggestions?

My 2000 ford ranger had the drivers pedal cable stretched. The solution was to zip tie it or something you can google it maybe. Also you could cut it and crimp it back together. Would make sense if your not opening the throttle body fully that it wouldn't shift up. Expecially towing uphill because you need more air/gas to tow more weight.

Edit:
Heres the video i used.

Thottle cable

Mine was very loose. For the longest time I felt like the gas pedal was having to be pushed without results. I added 3. I think that did alot. Did this help with power or acceration at all when fixed?

Obviously it improves power acceleration your adding more air which means more gas. My car wouldn't go above 60 mph on the freeway before and after it does probably 100 plus.

I do notice a difference. Truck wants to "go" now and has more power. Added one too many and throttle was open so cut one off. But a noticeable difference. Thanks.
