Should I do this or that...suspension for the fast kind
Should I do this or that...suspension for the fast kind
With a 4 hour trip home me and zach talked about ideas for my truck. Its almost paid off and It will not be a DD. BUt will still need driven during the year (snow covered roads)
TRuck: 04 4x4 level 2
Anything I do I would like a cage and 5 point. It kinda scares me not having that protection.
What I want to do is Dixon Bro front end, deavers, and cage the entire truck. BY that I mean bed cage, roll cage and engine cage.....+ alot alot more. With all that done my total is around 15 grand which is ALOT and prabably too much money!!!
ZAchs idea is to do a coils overs up front (correct me if I am wrong zach), chevy springs in the rear (with a leaf out) and then just beat the **** out of it bascially. Cost effective fun way. If I can get it to ride like zachs truck with the dana 44 under it I would be happy. We where getting on it pretty good a few times and never once did it bottom out to bad.
Ithere a way to get rid of the torsion bars without spending the money on a dixon bro type set up?
Also is there any problems that I should be aware of when building something like this? Like drive shaft length? CV binding? I am sure zach knows but I wont talk to him prally for a while.
I just want to know other options and ideas everyone has for a cost effective suspension for the person who likes to go fast
BTW I dont want to buy some early 90s 2wd and put suspension on it. I want to use my truck.
P.S. I am on 54k, I tried searching and am getting peed off

your travel is limited to about 8" we will need to limit strap it with the coil overs.
you are limited by CV bind in the CVs at droop and full compression.
I suggest running 4.56 and 33s
I think 8" isnt too bad it will hender it some. only way i have read is to run a wider track width

Check out dezertrangers.com if you haven't already, there's always stuff for sale in the classifieds. The dixon bros kit pulls more travel just because of the longer arms and cvs. You might be able to get someone on there to build you some arms for a little cheaper.
I am looking for shocks on dezertrangers.
I think our idea is to get some 8inch 2.0s or 2.5 coil overs up front, chevy springs out back and possibly removes a spring and a very small bed cage.
Now there is a lot of little things but that is the basic of it. I will start a thread once I get all my parts together.
