Removed gauge cluster and cleaned up all the dust behind it. I will hopefully find a new cluster tomorrow.

Well, i started this project because I just got this Ranger about a month ago. It was filthy inside. Here is the funny part. It has the full center console. When I pulled out the front cup holder portion I found the previous owners stash (bag of weed) I am glad I pulled the interior out. It would have sucked to get pulled over and try to explain that. Ok back to what I want to do, I pulled the cluster out to clean out behind it, and some of the bulbs were blown. But I am gonna try to get an explorer or sport trac cluster with white gauges. I haves read on here that they work. I used to own a couple audio shops and started installing in 1985. (god I'm getting old). So I know my way around the electrical system pretty good. I am contemplating building a custom console. It just takes a lot of time (I'm a perfectionist) if you guys have any ideas shoot them to me. The new carpet arrives next week. So I will be doing other stuff to it in the meantime. If any of you are looking for any ranger stuff message me cause I'm hitting the parts yards tomorrow. I will keep updating daily. Have a great night!!

Nice! That looks beautiful... I vote you change the tail lights, but to each his own.

In the first pic you might notice some bright silver paint. There were some very minor rust spots. Not bad at all. But I wanted to get them fixed up. I cleaned the area and sanded it clean. But the only high quality rust inhibitor spray paint I could get my hands on was called bright aluminum color.

I think I am going to start sanding the underbody. I would like to undercoat it. There are so many things I wanna do to this truck it's hard to just keep it simple when you got it torn down this far.

It's been a couple of days haven't done too much too busy. I did manage to take apart the gauge cluster an give it a good cleaning. I am debating an overlay kit or just finding an explorer or sport trac white face cluster. New carpet will arrive hopefully Wednesday. New tail light assemblies and Rancho shocks will arrive Monday. I should stay pretty busy next week. I am gonna try to wash, scratch X and clay it today.

Ok got a lot of stuff done this week. Installed new carpet. Put on 4 new Rancho RS500 shocks. Installed new front rotors and ceramic pads. New tail light assemblies. Painted fender flares and grill. The sad part is I dropped my iPhone last week and it shattered the screen. So I'm taking a few pics with this crappy phone camera. Also I ordered the audiophile center console with the factory sub. I don't really care about the sub, I just like the look of that console. I have done as much as I can to this Ranger to make her as nice as I can. I changed all fluids (front diff rear diff transfer case tranny radiator brake fluid. And a fuel system cleaning) also changed all u joints. And recharged air conditioning. There is one prob with the truck but I think I need to ask that question on a different discussion. Here is a pic of front with grill removed.

Yep that should work; pre-HEC era InstrumentClusters are NOT electronicly uniquely matched to the Computer\PCM.
Best to give the Cluster a good cleaning before re-install,
with CompressedAir+ElectronicCleaner then a little SiliconeLubeSpray in the Odo\SpeedoMeter.
Also gently clean+tighten all the FlexCircuit~Socket~Bulb connections on the backside, then install all new Bulbs.
Click here for more on renewing Bulbs in InstrumentCluster + DashCenterPanel.
