So I went to the dealership today...

I've been thinking of "downgrading" and picking up a 06+ reg cab 4cyl stick as my truck it basically just used for driving to work and back and my current truck is a lot more than I need for a simple DD.

I stopped in at a dealership today to look at this:

http://www.oakridgeford.com/used/For...e04fb89b62.htm

Not too keen on the wheels... but tires are brand new. It is one year newer and has about 10,000km more than my truck. No power windows or locks, no a/c, no sliding rear window, no hitch. Anyone care to guess what their offer was to me to downgrade?

The only way to beat the dealers is to buy one used vehicle and keep it till the wheels fall off, or else you get hammered for depreciation and sales taxes every time you make any kind of trade.

Honestly I wouldn't do that. If anything I would just put your truck back to stockish. Take the lift off and run some 31's.

I agree with mike. If you were to de-mod your truck, you might love it again and drive it more.
Don't get me wrong, I love it as is but I can see where it's too much for a DD.

Ding ding ding... lol. That's exactly it... my truck plus $3000 for it.

I wasn't expecting much but figured I'd stop in to ask. Wasn't really planning on trading it anyways... I'll likely just put it up on Kijiji or something for a fairly high amount and if it sells then it sells and I'll pick something else up and if it doesn't then I'll keep it!

The lift and tires aren't what's making me want to get rid of the truck... I'm actually getting the same if not a little better mileage than stock on the highway. I just don't need a 4x4 4.0L truck.... we'll see what happens though!

Look into a used fiddy reg cab 4wd. I was actually thinking about one when I got mine.
I got my ranger because of the size. A reg cab would be smaller, get better mileage or same and have more power with similar towing/hauling capabilities.

I need a full size 4x4 even less than I need the truck I currently have... lol. If I do change anything it'll be for a 4cyl stick Ranger mainly for the fuel mileage increase of about 10mpg!

Myself, I'd keep the 4wd, you get more snow then we do and if I lived up there I know I'd get my monies worth outta it.
Any luck with finding a 4banger 4wd gen 3 or 2?

I'd like to stay with something newer... we do get a ton of snow up here but I managed fine last year in my 2wd 4cyl stick Colorado work truck and a few winters before in my old 2wd Ranger.

In that case, I would swap axles and suspension with you so you could sell a stock truck but I just bought these 31s.
Post a feeler on kiscamji and see if any one gives you a better deal.

Don't sell it, you'll regret it I bet.

Sure you don't NEED it...but you like it, right? If you aren't having financial issues, why get rid of it? Enjoy it! Its a nice truck!

I don't need 2 lifted 4x4's, but hey...I love having them both.

I do like it... but I think it's time for a change and it'd be nice to have some extra cash around.
