Gil, if you don't mind white number wheels behind the white gauges, you can transfer the entire odometer unit from your old cluster to the ST cluster. If you want the black wheels, you should be able to disassemble the ST odo and roll it forward.

i disasembled mine, "pulled the needle" via method bob posted then transfered my odo to the sprot trac cluster, then used the battery method to reinstall the ST needle on the ranger odo. worked great

the bottom knee plastic needs to come off, then the radio bezel, then the 3 screws that are above the guages, then you will see two more and the cover should remove. its alot of screws to get to it, kinda sucks. i took mine in and out to many times.
ya i wish it was easier as well. just make sure you test it all before you put it all back together.
also a little short cut you can leave the actual housing that holds the guages in, and you can just pop the clear case off and the guages pop out, like 3 different sections, you will notice this as you take it apart.
