sounds about like my luck, i owned my F250 for two weeks and put a huge scratch/dent across the tailgate.

 

I just 2 toned my tailgate, jumped on it and snapped one cable. Luckily the other one held.

 

yeah advanced sells the cables for like $10. mine are original and they look fine. the braided line has no rust on it and the plastic housing is in good shape. weird you guys have so many problems with them.

pics? mines in toreador red and the bottom lip is in DSG. i had a ranger rust spot in the same spot everyone gets so I sanded it down to the metal and painted the whole area.

Mine is 2 toned in the middle. I'll have to get pics sometime this weekend.

The cable that snapped on my tailgate had no rust on it whatsoever. It just snapped
