Icon8 sort of a vent

So, here at BNCOC (Army school) in crap hole OKlahoma I have to get up at 345 to get to a 4am formation for PT. Its foggy as hell and very humid. Im cruising along when i get the dreaded DING....Check ENgine light comes on. So, Im like Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat 750 miles away from home and still have that to drive in return plus another 1000+ to South Carolina and back for recruiter school. Then 1000 to get up to MN in June. What possibly could be wrong?!? I get the truck to Advance Auto and get a diagnostic test run. EGR Valve is bad, not to bad i guess...I try to order it...not able to order they tell me dealer only?!? I go across street to AutoZone they just dont have any in stock.....no other parts store, and i refuse to go to a ford dealership to be raped on such a minimum repair. So I guess I will be getting really crappy MPG on the trip home Friday. Then I was told by my buddy that my pipes are shooting water out of them when i get on it. I then start noticing I keep getting puddles of water next to my passenger side wheel. Like I am running the A/C....the problem is I dont have it on. Only Defroster in the mornings. I pop the hood and it looks like a plastice seal is freely moveable??! and the is a Class 2 leak there of the bolt...What is the deal? just flipped 54000 miles....whats to expect? This seems to be all easy fix things. What do you guys think? SOrry for long post Just seems like now that I about to do all this travel and moving the last thing i want is all my load going into the Ranger!!

whenever you have your defroster on, it will run the a/c compressor unless you put in a shut off switch....

also that egr code is usually not the egr valve but the little vacuum selenoid thing that mounts to your intake manifold near the throttle body.

So did you call the Ford dealership and ask how much it is? Or are you "assuming"? The TPS on Victory M/C is over $200 at dealership cause they only sell with another part attached. GM dealerships sells just the TPS for $32.
Is the price you are saving not going to the dealership worth the amount of gas you will waste at $2.75/gal?

Like I told the guys when I was in the service, sure it ain't like home but you signed up to get away from home? You want to hear about crappy? 1971 the U.S. Air Force did not have a Heavy Equipment school so I had to go to school at Ft. Belvoir, VA. The barracks I stayed in were waiting for the second time to be comdemned so they would be torn down. The Army had KP duty. Air Force didn't but cause I was on the base I had to do KP duty. "Be all you can be in the U.S. Army" what, peeling potatoes?
So instead of complaining about everything, accept what you have, spend the money to fix your vehicle correctly and move on. Does the Army still get paid once a month?

LOLOLOLOLOL ^who are you? You want crappy how about 1 tour in Bosnia, 1 in Kosovo, 3 tours in Iraq and shrapnel in your knees and mouth. dont compare AF to ARMY because in the end the Army does 60% of the work, Marines do the rest and maybe a split of it goes to AF flying us home to hop a flight for R R. If you read my post I stated that the 2 auto stores here didnt have the part. I didnt add that the Ford dealership is 20Miles away. This is an extremely EASY fix so why would i go to the dealership? I can do it in my driveway for a fraction of the cost?!?! Anyways, moving on to someone important.

I figured that Maurice, but it is a lot of water, and i dont have the defroster on for long at all, but I just wanted to make sure. Thanks again buddy, I always can count on you for solid advice

Marc, has this happened to you? What Vacuum are you talking about?? you by chance have a pic of it?

I can get it home, gas hasnt really jumped up here maybe 5 cents (2.29/Gal) I think it might be time to check out the O2 sensors too just might as well hit it all up before going to SC.

Local dealership near me in Las Vegas here. They have some real good prices through there online catalog. If you can't find the part on there, just have your VIN code ready and give them a call and they can get you what you need, much cheaper than at a dealer in-person. And about as cheap if not cheaper than most part's stores. Got my flywheel, slave-unit and associated hardware through them on the cheap. Check it out.

As for the ARMY vs USAF argument, it's not worth arguing over. Every one who is in the service deals with bullsh*t one way or another. I think that's the point the man was trying to make. Regardless of branch. With out one branch, the other's wouldn't get very far. Period. Dot. I know quite a few Air Force folks to take fire, get wounded, and knew some that have died in combat. I know of Air Force convoy's in Iraq that have taken casualties, because the army took their up-armored HMMVS's I have good friends that get put into the sh*t on a regular basis in the Army as well. To put it simply, the army wouldn't be in Iraq without the Air Force's support to begin with, and we wouldn't be holding any ground after the Air Force 'blew sh*t up' with out the Army, and the Marines. 'Nuff said.

Thanks for the site Viper.....but to counter what you just said if it wasnt worth arguing over....why did you rant about it??? Ill tell you why...P-R-I-D-E and if you were in the service you would know..you dont let it slde by. Im pull my BULLSH*T card on you though...it is a Centcom AO of responsibility MANDATORY SOP that you will not leave a FOB/COB/Base without an uparmored HUMVEE. point blank.....Ill dig you out of your own lie and say it must have happened during the initial invasion when we did in fact roll around in high backs, then again there were not to many AF guys on the intial invasion (3rd Infantry/101st ABN (AASLT) were the spear head with 82nd (ABN) jumping into the northern (even though it was secured) Iraq. 3ACR and 4th ID were initially held up as Turkey was not cooperating and they had to secure the Fallujah/Al Qa'aim AO. So, dont say AF (my fellow brothers) were injured due to Army taking a vehicle. AF is not trained or equipped to beat feet in/on the streets of Iraq. Unless of course they were booted from AF for MOS changes and whatever and did the blue to green program. Just as an Army Pilot couldnt hop into a fighter jet and fly with precision and drop the bombs. As you said, we need each other but you still have the pride involved. Just like if you were a Duke fan and I was a NC fan. The point "the man: was trying to make had ZERO to do with my EGR valve. Anyways, thats my rant for now.

BTW, that site rocks! Thanks!

Glad you like the site. Sorry on my own little rant, I meant to cut it off at the "Period. Dot" point, but sometimes the hands just take over and the b*ll **** flow's. I am indeed in the service (that camo- F-16 in my avatar is one of the jets I maintain.) And I have nothing but respect and pride for both my service, and all those in uniform, especially the Army. Comes in as a close second to my Air Force

I guess I was wrong on the Humvee's. It was the Gun Trucks (as a friend of mine in Trans call's them.) I know they talk some sh*t up too, especially when comparing to my friends from highschool back home that are Army. According to him, they end up pulling the AF's convoys outta trouble quite a bit. But, that's not my job. My job is to 'Put Bombs on Target.'

(On a side note, over the last 2 years here I have come close to signing up for the blue to green program myself. I got a feeling there are a whole lot less b*tches looking out for themselves than I tend to find here. Or maybe it's this base. IDK)
