Speeding Ticket

Got a ticket. Yup. I was doing 40 in a 25. clearly not paying attention, the officer wrote me up for 30 in a 25. now the law states 5 over is allowable. would i get away with this in court? or should i just pay the $120 ticket

Get a 2.3 and you won't have to worry about getting speeding tickets.

Yeah suck it up and pay it. I was doing 37 in a 25 once and was givin' three non moving violations instead, and I gratefully paid those off. I was damn happy to not have to deal with the mess of trouble I would have had with the speeding ticket (from both my parents and insurance).

I dk how they do things up there, but in Jersey u can plead it down to an unsafe operation of a motor vehicle, pay like 300$ but you get no points. like i said, not sure what other states do this but if points are involved you can try that (if your state allows it)

He probably wrote the actual speed as 40, so your arguement wont hold up in court.

Now, back in my college days (not so long ago), I would have said beat the pig over the head with a baseball bat so he feels the same pain and anger as you.

Fortunately, I've grown up a remotely measureable amount since then. Now, I'd just say spit in his face and swallow your pride, then pay the damned ticket.

I wouldn't recommend the spitting. Guy got 15 years for spitting on me since it's a felony here. Not too mention some liquid fire in his eyes lol

LoL I mean no offense but I take it you are law enforcement?

Anyway, to the OP, yeah I would pretty much just pay the thing (and hold a grudge forever).

i was pulled over doing 27 over once while volunteering in a loaner car (lexus). we couldn't find the ownership and insurance. he held me there for 30 mins. finally he let me go with the speed reduced and three tickets for failure to produce insurance, ownership and speeding. he dropped it down to 15 over and told me the dealer wants the car back now. i still had to drive people around that night.
when i got to the dealer they told me the ownership and insurance was under the plate. they never told me since we got the cars late and i had to leave right away. everyone else knew though. the dealership took care of the failure tickets and i paid the 15 over since i was given a huge break and things could have been way worse.

yeah when an officer cuts you a break just pay it, i got busted in the school zone on my way to school a few days ago going the regular speed limit, he pretty buch just let me off the hook, i only got $110 instead of $290 and no points didn't put me down for speeding put me down for not following traffic control devices, could fight it, just not worth the trouble, if you get break now you might not later so just go with it

it's nice when you get a break from LEO. they have their good and bad days. just like everyone else. everyone has their opinions about them but they are just doing their job.

i got a following too close ticket once after an accident. the next day. he didn't wanna give it to me but got some flak from higher up and told me to fight it. i'm in that process now.

I got a careless driving ticket about 2 weeks ago, for spinning my tires in a heavily populated area. It was a BS ticket and i didnt spin my tires but it costed me 110 bucks and 3 points.

Now I dont like that campus cop anymore, but im not against all cops
