I got my first speeding ticket today. I was doing 70mph in a 50. The trooper informed me that here in Maryland, 20 over the limit is "Negligent Driving" and issued me a ticket for $140.00, and a warning for not having my front plate on because i just got finished painting it. Before this, a few months back i got a warning for a 67 in a 50 but only got a warning. But when he gave me the ticket, he said something about adding 2 points to my license (provisional license) so i think i'm going to go to court to fight the points, but i'm alright about paying the fine, there's no way i'm getting out of that. I'm just hoping this wont affect my insurance (State Farm). I think it's time to invest in a radar detector.

yeah.. points really suck for insurance rates.. i was pulled over doing 94 in a 55 around 3 am one night about a year ago.. cop asked me how fast i thought i was going.. i said, about 70..75.. he goes.. try again.. i was like.. 90 something.. he was like yeah, 94.. thats a little fast, especially with the curves out here, i know its late at night and your the only one out here right now, but you still gotta take it easy, thats a little too fast.. i thought he was gonna give me a warning or somethin sinse his attittude was so friendly and understanding when i told him why i was going so fast (had to **** badly!!).. but yeah.. ended up getting 5 points and a 15 day suspension (which was great.. sent my license out.. adn some how got it back later that week!! what a hard suspension!!!).. and insurance went up like a bitch.. i had to pay a 1000 so i could stay on my dads insurance.. then i had to pay like 240 for the ticket..

also.. if you get a radar detector.. make sure to hide it out of view if you ever get pulled over again.. cops can be ******** about them if they feel like it!!!

I got pulled over once.. The state trooper says to me.

" I had you clocked doing 96 when your radar warning device went off"

I decided to invest in a better radar detector then lol.

Nothing worse than a crappy one. It pisses the cops off... and doesnt do crap for you.

He was cool about it I was actually doing about 108 (not in the ranger that day) I went to court paid the 70$ ticket got 2 points and was done.
That one is long gone though lol. I outgrew my stupid days pretty fast.

how to raise up a Ranger

Damn them points sound like they suck. Last couple times I went to court paid the fine and got supervision (which is like 4-6 months with no further tickets it doesnt go on your record.)

Radar detector prolly won't help there bud. I have one, someone bought it for me as a gift one year. I keep it in the truck but hardly ever use it. The thing is effing useless! Does jack on the back roads as they typically just 'gun' you. Once the detector goes of your're already nailed. On the Interstate me and my craptastic eyes can see the cop long before the detector does.

Save your scratch, just keep it down. I try very hard to never go more than 10 over the limit. .. So far it's worked out for me: ~12 years of driving and 1 ticket to show for it!

My record from my dumber days is being clocked at 105 in a 55. It was like 3-4 AM and the cop and I were the only two on the road. I vaugely knew the cop (friend's cousin, small town PD) and he gave me a 'verbal warning' (more like an ***-chewing). He had me scared shitless though. They arrest for that 'round here..

Or you could slow down... thats always an easy way to not get a speeding ticket... radar detectors can be nice, but whats really the rush? If your doing 20 over you mayt need the points to keep you thinking and to slow you down...

I got a ticket for driving 74 in a 55...paid the fine, took the points, now they are back on there. Then I got a warning for doing 35 in a 30! Yeah, the state trooper was being a *****...

my fastest was in my civic, on the way to Starkville, MS

94 in a 65.....

State Trooper (who i work for) pulled me over, and i carry a pistol in my vehicle at all times. So, i inform him of this, and he unbuttoned his holster and asked me not to go near it... well i was in a civic and its right by my thigh ( right side ) , i reply with umm..... when i go for my wallet, ill be going toward the firearm Sir... he said " why dont ya step outta the vehicle" , i said would LOVE To, lol...... so he ticked me, and told me to call him from my work b\c if he didnt give ti to me and i was possibly lying, he would look like a dumb ****, so, i called him and he fixed the ticket!! yay go me!

You get to choose which laws you obey, didn't you get the memo?
