squeek from rear end?

Well my truck is making this annoying squeek, and its coming somwhere from the rear. The squeek is sorta like a quick bird chirp. If i stand in my bed of my truck and jump up and down, it wont make any squeeking noises at all. But the squeek comes when i hit a pot-hole or driving down a dirt or rocky road. I think its the compression of the shocks but not sure, do you think i should replace them?

I had a similar squeek, on the rear end of my truck. But it does squeek sometimes when i jump up and down. I think its the leaf spring bushing, rubbing against the metal. I dont really worry about it.

IF the squeak is only when the vehicle is driven.... then I would check the rear driveshaft U-joints and the driveshaft carrier bearing (if your truck has the additional driveshaft bearing between the two sections of driveshaft). The U-joints are sealed (non greasable) so they will dry out after a while.

My experience while on the trail has been.... the squeaking comes a while before the thud.... Squeaking is when the needle bearings are dry and rub against the trunion and cups.... If you hear them thud.... then most of the needle bearings are gone !!!!

Why not check the U-joints anyway and find out if they are still good ....
