Hell I bought 2! An early 2003 and a late 2004. But I think the Ranger is the only truck losing in sales (at least to any significant degree). They sell more colorado's and Tacoma's. Ranger was the best selling compact truck for what 10-15 years?

Yeah but sales have been dropping dramatically.

"Ranger sales dropped 30 percent in 2004, 23 percent in 2005 and 20 percent so far this year."

Some times ford doesn't axe a vehicle quickly. I think they let them die slowly and use up all the old parts. Like the escort, it dwindled for years after the Focus came out. Then there was the F-150 Heritage in '04 after the new f-150's came out.

Very well said, and you can only do updates or cosmetic changes so long.

If you figure that 2003 was selling 100%(baseline amount)
then this year they figure to only sell 43% as many...

I do agree when fullsize chevys are getting MUCH better gas mileage
than a ranger.. there is an issue.
I expect a compact ranger axing.. with a replacement Midsize truck
Maybe with the same name. V8 300hp option, Diesel option and much better
gas mileage oh and a crew cab option like the rest o the world.

yea, i think if ford would have added a v8 to the ranger mix and maybe one other cab size, i think sales would have skyrocketed and be great today.. or even just a dam motor to pull some miles outa the gas you put in it..

i love my ranger, but they sure as hell arnt trying to market it very well

Minus the diesel option, don't they already have that.. it's called the F-150..

Yup i agree there not going to increase the size of the Ranger or whatever they may call a supposed replacement at the expense of the older brother F-series, there not going to create inside competition when they have enuff
to keep ahead of the Silverado/Sierra trucks.

Ford is notorious for shooting themselves in the foot in the name of preventing inside competition, i.e. no 4 door Ranger because it would compete with the Sport Trac.. No one at Ford can figure out that when people want a 4 door truck thats more capable than the Sport Trac, they're going to other brands.. Sport Trac is losing those sales anyway, but they could be losing them to another Ford! Stupidity.
