straight pipe ideas

ok by now you guys all know what im running, turbo muff and no pipes outt it. had a thought today. no muff and 4" pipes from the cats back. how would that sound. just get a reducer or even have the muffler shop do but im still gunna have it forward side exit. so to go out the manifold with 4" pipes and out in front of the rear tire. ? ? ? what you think i bet it would look BA with 4" pipes prolly slashed at an angle coming out the side.

anyother options? i dont really want to buy a new muffler. maybe even 4 inch out the muffler? idk

well first off thats not even close to a straight pipe. Striaght pipes are no cats or anything jus headers then a pipe that exits out the rear of the truck somewhere. If your gonna do it illegal by not having a muff why dont you jus take it all the way and cut off the cats too? you wanted opinions and you got mine.

well it would be really mean sounding. the cats give it that
"V6" sound. no cats would give it a real motor sound. go youtuba a video of a ranger with straight pipes or just a v6 with straight pipes.

Wherever you want the turndown. mines right after my muffler. Heres a 4.0 straight pipe. its a turbo but you get the idea. And his sounds so good because he ran a pipe off each header.

Mine is true dual now, but not straight pipe. that video makes me want to pull off the two cats that I have left. I just don't want to deal with the C/E light and I'm not sure if Rogue tunes delete the downstream O2s.

1) 4" pipes . . . umm, wow.

2) It's an American V6, it was not designed to sound good without mufflers (or run well without cats).

4" pipes, are you serious. You should stick to 2.5 or less.

that mustang sounded nice.. as for 4" piping, 1. it would look horrible on a small truck, and 2. it would perform horribly id imagine.

Not even so much that as the fact 4" is overkill, by far. 2.25" would be fine for most moderately modded V6s to maintain nice back pressure.

4" is overkill on a 302, I'm pretty sure your stock 4.0 can do without the massive piping, the difference in weight to 4" pipe is surprising as well.
