Strange Torque Converter Lockup (Bama?)

Ever since I got the bama, I've noticed one strange thing. I'm more or less looking to see if anyone else has this problem.

When I'm going 40, exactly 40....I go to pass someone, lightly press the throttle, it will slip, then catch, then slip again, then catch again until it goes up to 45mph at the least. I was thinking this was a glitch in the program? When I go from a light, I hit 1st no problems, 2nd no problems, and 3rd and up no problems, no slipping, nice firm shifts.

I'm about to put on my stock tune JUST to make sure that it's not the truck...

Anyone else have this problem? I'm on 93 Perf BTW.

I emailed Bob about it, hopefully it's just a glitch, I don't need another tranny problem. I'll respond back in about 20 mins as to weather or not it is the tranny...it HAS to be the tune though...

One of mine does it but it has no tuner. I figured it was on its way out. Let us know the results of turning the tune off.

Well, definetly just the tune. It doesn't happen any other rpm range than 3000-3400 and it only happens when downshifting from od to 3rd at 40mph. It will slip/grab/slip, then if I hit the gas MORE it will grab and take off...it's just a lockup issue...

It's getting resolved as I speak. I ran the stock tune and it did NOT do that.

BTW, awesome customer service at Jusnes, Bob took care of me right away!

Thanks, I would assume it would do the same thing. It has taken me a while of driving to figure it out.

Don't forget, if you hit hte gas harder, it will lockup and take off, or if you let off it will find the right gear.

I have a 35 miles drive in each day and lately because of construction it's been mostly on 50mph roads. So.. I played with this an AWFULL LOT this morning. I tried every rate of acceleration from barely anything up to about 35% throttle.

Here is what mine does. (2006 FX4 w/12k miles on a 93 perf bama tune)
In 5th gear the TQ conv. lockup is dependant on how you got to 40mph.
Decelerating down to 40mph and it's not locked at all. You accelerate and it just slips up to about 45-46mph

Accelerating up to 40mph and it's fully locked the whole time. Only when you go heavy throttle does it come out of lockup.

Held steady at 40 for 20-30 seconds, then at lighter throttle, it's seems to slightly slip then go into lockup at about 42mph.

Now I tried the same thing in 4th (OD off) The TQ conv. seems to be pretty much locked up no matter what or how you hold or go to that speed.

Hope this helps..

Rich

If you think this maybe a 'different' issue, there is a solenoid somewhere on the transmission that does something (expensive) I had this issue on my truck since it was new. Dealer has replaced this solenoid like 5x. its STILL an issue. however, its MUCH MUCH better. I know exactly what your talking about. If its possible, I would suggest waiting for it to rain and then test the theory that it could be the truck. the solenoid in question throws a temper tantrum in the rain when if messes up.

PS: dont be holding your coffee while doing this.

"solenoid" is the servo. The servo went bad 2x on my truck so far. It probably will go bad shortly too...I can feel it, I just have bad luck!
