you are trying to get the radio away from the bezel? you need "ford radio removal keys" you can get them at walmart....they look like two large "U" 's and they fit into the sides of the radio where you see two holes on either side....

is that what you are trying to do? if not, please elaborate

The easiest way is to pick up a $4 set of U-shaped Ford radio puller tools from WalMart and pull the radio before removing the bezel. The radio plug and any switches in the bezel have retainer tabs that need to be depressed to remove them. The lighter and power point socket connectors pull straight off. So does the radio antenna plug.

Yeah i have those tools but that just brings the radio out and it is still hooked to the wire and the plug wont come out. Im just trying to get the black shell so I can paint it. I finally just got the fog light switch unhooked. I still have the radio, cigarett lighter, and power source to separate from the bezel.

I just come in from the bottom of the HU with a small screwdriver, depress the connector tab and lever it free.

i dont know why, but im still kinda confused what stage you are at. is the bezel removed from the dash? or do you still have wires connected?

if you have wires conneted...the lighter has a black plug on in the middle, and a ground terminal on the outside...just pull real hard. for the power outlet, if i remember, its just a single plug...just pull

if you have the wires disconnected and the unit out of the dash. the lighter (and possibly the power outlet too) comes out by unscrewing the back counter clockwise, and the two pieces come apart.....its REALLY hard to explain...lol....
and the foglight swich just has two screws

The lighter has a ground spade terminal and a right angle plug that are just a friction fit on the back of the lighter socket. The power point has a 2-wire plug connector that is also a friction fit on the back of its socket. Pull them straight off.

Actually, you've got it fairly easy. Look at the bezel in my avatar!

I like that silver on the bezel. What brand is it? And is it just silver?

its an explorer console....thats not a current picture though, below is a current picture.....LOTS of fiberglass and sanding.

that silver was the first shot, straight duplicolor silver metalic or something....then i mixed up some paint in a gun, made a dark silver, slightly brighter then a gunmetal color...and it was only okay......this was all for color trial.....im still figuring out what i need to do
