Swapped Rear Axle ABS Problems

So, as most of you know that I swapped my 7.5 3.73 axle for a 8.8 4.10 axle.

As soon as I turned on the truck the ABS light popped on and my RABS (I don't have it up front) is gone.

I figure since the ABS plate is in the axle and attached to the carrier/ring gear/whole spinning setup that it is not receiving the correct signal from the computer since it thinks I still have 3.73s.

How do I get this fixed? Do I need a tuner? Can I put a TruSpeed re-calibrator on it and will that fix it? Or can I just have the ABS flashed and it will reset itself?

I figure there is some trick that I missed during my research. I can't believe all you guys who swapped axles and re-geared are just running around without RABS.

THANKS!!

P.S. Please don't come in here barking about how I should just get a tuner. All I need is my ABS before I slid through an intersection this winter. I don't even think they make one for the 2.5L.

I would get the sensor from your 7.5 and put it in the new 8.8. Then plug it in.

If you've got a sensor on top of the diff, it's got an ABS tone ring period. I think the issue may be that your year truck actually takes it's speedometer reading off that same ring....And you may have a 01+ axle under the truck now......therefor the sensors themselves may be different and not compatible with your year truck.

01+ rangers take the speed from the tranny.

Pre-00 rangers take it from the axle. probably the ABS ring.

So if I take the sensor from my 7.5 and bolt it to my 8.8 and plug it it should be good?

They both have the sensor but the 03 8.8 came from a 4WABS truck while my 7.5 is from a 00 with RABS only.

My speedo is still working accurately (or close to accurately). So the sensors are compatible I think. At least my 2000 CPU can read the 2003 sensor.

Well......I'm saying the sensor itself may be different to provide both a signal to the PCM for the speedometer needle AND a signal to the ABS module, instead of just the one like the '03 it came out of. Maybe a wire flipped or moved spots, I don't know. Just swap 'em and find out. It's free and at your disposal...try it.

They flip flop between axles no sweat. Did it to my brother's when we swapped his '01 7.5 for an '07 8.8.

And yes, it reads a signal off the gaps between the teeth in the tone ring mounted on the differential. Similar to what's on the backside of your front brake rotors.

Awesome, that defiantly makes sense. I'll give it a try tomorrow.

Hopefully after I get the brakes worked out on the axle I'll be done with the thing.

I'm ready to start putting in all the accessories I have stock piled.
