T- Bar Lift
 

Hey Guys,

So after researching the Torsion Bar lift and looking at the pros and cons, I decided to level out my truck. She looks great now. My truck is my daily driver so I didnt want to max the tbars but I gave them 3 good turns.

Here is the how to video I made for those interested:

you don't need to jack up the truck at all. a little heat and you wont need a breaker bar either. after around 50 miles you may want to crank them at least 1 more turn because they'll settle.

otherwise, good video but a question... why wouldn't you make both sides the same height lol

Thanks! It actually settled right where I wanted it haha (pure luck)! And for the breaker bar, I used it like a ratchet because those bolts are hard to turn even after you initially "break" them (need some torque)!

ah. on my 3 trucks i just heated the bolt with map gas and i used a regular 1/2" ratchet. without heat, yeah definitely you'll need a breaker bar.

yes you need to jack up the truck to do this and yes heating it is almost always a necessary step. you needto take as much load off the bars as possible by jacking it up so you dont snap off the bolt or strip the threads. it is not that big of a bolt to put that much stress on

lol smart ass. have you ever had to deal with removing the torsion bar adjustment bolts and the plate they thread into? its not fun. i have done it twice now because of friends trying to do this simple job in dumb ways.

I dunno, it just doesn't seem worth paying for an alignment for 1-2 inches..

lmao and yes. i've swapped tbars on my old 99 from B to 1 and the 98 i had for a few months had aftermarket keys that i took out. its not too bad but i'd rather do other jobs on a ranger than that lol

Well if you need tires, changing ball joints, changing shocks, etc you are going to have to get an alignment anyhow. That is a good time to do it... Like me

That's true, if you're changing all of that our, the cost of an alignment is probably the least of your worries.. lol

I am thinking about buying a kit so I can align my own tires... I am not sure if it is good or not tho...

you can buy camber kits and change out the camber bolts yourself but you will never be able to do your own alignment unless you have access to a machine. the good ol tape measure doesnt work very well on ifs rigs like it does on something with a straight front axle

agreed. I had my t-bars cranked when I got my new meat on. I didn't want to have an alignment done with nothing new installed on the truck.
