Redoing my open exhaust...
Well, after half a year with the muffler off it is finally getting to me. The only things I hate about being dumped in front of the tires w/ no muffler is the reverberation inside the cab and the droning.....on and on and on...........it's getting real old anyway....
So I'm thinking of just buying an ORIGINAL (not super) Flowmaster 40 series delta flow muffler and putting it in place of the stock muffler and then putting the stock system on from there. How will it sound and how loud will it be, mainly cab reverberation?
2003 4.0 SOHC.

yeah that's what I'm planning on getting, the delta flow 40 series, moving the exit to the back of the truck and putting a muffler on it should quiet it down alot. Actually, anything at this point would be better than what it is now.
Or I could get the delta-flow 40 series with the single inlet and dual outlet, how would that sound as well?

If I remember correctly doing a dual output on these trucks takes away some HP. I was told this by a guy at Exhaust Pro... Can anyone back this up? because I would like to do a dual output from the muffler with a Gibson exhaust.
I dont trust this guy that told me because he also said that stainless steel can rust. I was planning on doing complete stainless from the headers to keep rust away and for the cool look!
BTW Austin, did you see any noticeable performance with the K&N fuel injection kit?

And then I decided to slice my muffler off and there went that 2-3 mpg...
But yeah I think I'm going to just buy a Dynomax system. It is aluminized steel with a stainless tip and no stainless steel does not rust, atleast not very easily, it is possible though for a "messup" in the steel manufacturing plant to deform the metal mixture and cause a spot to be able to rust though. but that VERY rarely happens.
go for a stainless system, that is what I have on my Camaro and I love it!

P.S. I would suggest checking into a Complete MagnaFlow exhaust kit. They do have them for the 3.0 and the 4.0.

really? Interesting. I've been thinking about investing in one as well, had an FIPK on my bronco and saw 5-7 MPG difference, but going from 8 to 14mpg makes a difference. too bad the winter killed my gas milage in it and it never recovered.
I've been looking at them, and i'm unsure about an oiled air filter again... to hard to clean.
As far as the Flowmaster goes, I'm thinking about investing in one as well.

i think they all have the delta flow fins inside. they look like a triangle withought the bottome peice that moves the air to bothe sides equaly. i THINK!
i have the original 40 on mine and i can bearly hear it inside and i have ot have music off and listen really hard and i can hear it. i can hear it much with windows open eather and no vibration inside. my muffler is before the rear tire so its pretty far back for that reason but outside is really loud.
check mu sig for the video but!! th camera sound isnt perfect its more deeper. and inside driving u will see the camera picked up alot more noise
