good job dam ive been wanting to do this since i bought my truck. What all did you need just a steering column and the lower plastic trim piece? I broke the steering column in my car, i may pick up one for the truck aswell when i head to the jy for it.
EDIT:not to thread jack but does anyone know if a pats steering column will work in a non-pats truck i dont have pats and dont know how common non-pats colums are and will it matter if the donner truck had or didnt have cruise i dont have cruise

Cant help you on the 4d thing, but definitely get tilt! As far as cruise try and find a wrecked truck with it and snag the 04+ steering wheel and the cruise control stuff and it should be mostly a bolt in i believe. Gotta snake the wiring to the steering wheel though.

Its a fairly painless swap!
Tilt is a great thing. I didn't need it in my 95 though. I think it really made an impact in the 04+. The seats are thicker so they make you sit up higher. If I was skinny then it wouldn't of been much of an issue, but I'm not lol.
It was rare for the mustang not to have it, but most people who bought basic trucks usually didn't need it.

Here's a how to I wrote:
Explorers and Rangers pretty much have the same column. Also there really shouldn't be a difference between the manual and automatic column except for the shroud. If you don't need the shifter then just take that part off.

yes you would. I meant more along the lines of actually spending the money to do it, not it breaking

Its not an expensive swap at all. You can find the columns for 30-100 bucks normally. If you have an auto its even cheaper because there is tons of those. Manual is a little harder to find, but its worth it.

I've not seen anything really different between manuals and automatic columns. An automatic just has more stuff on it that you can take off, the only thing you need to do is switch out the top part of the shroud.
