tension hex is stripped!@#@

im trying to take the tension out for my belts and it looks like the little hex screw thing is stripped..my 3/8 wont fit...any ideas on how to take it off?

Vise-Grips


And maybe a metal pipe to fit over the end to use as a breaker bar

What exactly are you talking about...torsion bars? They take a 1/2" and it MUST be a 6 point. A 12 point socket is asking for trouble -- particularly if it's a 13 mm.

lol i guess its to losen up the belts so i can change the belts

Ah. Okay, well on my truck the tensioner is a 15mm bolt -- the same one that's in the middle of the pulley. You use a box end wrench (12 point is okay here) on the bolt head on the center of the pulley, pointing slightly up and towards the driver side fender, then press it down -- that's how it is on the 3.0 anyway and on a 2002. Not sure what's on yours?
