Towing a BII on a car dolly
Towing a BII on a car dolly
I am getting a BII that needs a transmission in it.....So I will be having to tow it about 10 miles home....
the only trailer that U-Haul has is a car dolly...it lifts the front wheels off the ground.....will it hurt the truck to put it in neutral and leave the driveshaft in it?
this is what i am talking about:

Check that they will even let you rent it to be pulled with your truck. I tried to get one and when they asked what I was towing I told them a caviler and they told me the combined weight of dolley and car was too much for the truck and wouldn't rent it. I knew it was wrong but what could I do. Really I was gonna tow a monte carlo. We ended up flat straping it about 10 miles. That was not fun.
well yeah, they will not let you rent a full trailer if the trailer and towed vehicle weigh more then your towing vehicle.
So thats when you lie to them, but be ready to have no help if your vehicle cant handle it

o how i love lying about the vehicles. we rented a flatbed uhaul trailer to tow my buddies firebird home from the army and you have to weigh the truck, trailer and vehicle empty, and then again loaded. well we didnt do it on oklahoma before we left so we did it when we got home to michigan, and i was like dude does your dad still have that datsun 280z? lightest damn car so we unloaded and swapped the cars and he walked away 1800 lighter than when fully loaded and he told them orignally he was gonna have 600lbs, he got an extra $2500 for that move but you will be fine towing it.
I got it home fine with the car dolly.....I pulled it with my step dad's 97 Dodge Ram......they didnt question either......
Can't wait to start the swap.....
Look for pictures in the project logs in the next couple hours!
