Towing with ranger.

I am currently looking into buying a ranger. It's a 2000 4x4 extended cap XLT ranger. Looking into buying it for around town and to occasionally tow my boat up north. I have a 17ft center console aluminum fishing boat and was curious if anyone on here has towed a boat with one of these. Will be towing for about a 4 to 5 hour drive. Boat is pretty light weight.

ive had a 12ft double axle behind my 3.0l on several occasions while moving and had close to 3000lbs on it for most of it and had no trouble. You should be fine with the 4.0 as long as you have trailer brakes i wouldn't attempt more than about 2000lbs without them.

I pull a 19' Sea Ray bowrider (fiberglass hull and I/O) without problems. My trailer does not have brakes. I also drive like I'm towing a boat.

Last week I did pull around 4,500 lbs (2,500 lbs trailer and 2,000 load) without an issue but I wished I had brakes for that one. I will be finishing up my brake controler before doing that again but it was move it or lose it situation.

Easy tow. You'd be best off with an auto and an overdrive shutoff but you'll still be fine.
