Towing ?s on Possible Project

Soo I found a $250 Ranger on Craigslist and I want just the bed and the Guy does not want to part it. $250 Is cheaper than a Bed and conversion parts from the Junkyard. So i thought maybe ill just buy the whole truck and maybe 5.0 it over time when I get the money. Along with doing some other stuff to it.

So more about the truck Its a 95 4cyl that has a messed up motor and trans.

Question

Would my 2004 Automatic Tras with 4.10s and a 4.0 be able to Tow a Ranger on a Trailer?

Your truck has an EXACT amount it is rated to TOW, find out the CORRECT towing capacity and if the COMBINED weight of the truck AND trailer you want to tow does not exceed what your truck is LEGALLY capable of towing, well then you are good to go!!

Here is an example using my truck, in 1996 my top of the line ranger with tow package was rated for 6,000 pounds TOWING!! if the truck and trailer that will be towed weigh more then 6,000 pounds you will not only be breaking the law but you will be technically exceeding the limits of your truck and putting other peoples lives at risk on the road by towing more then you legally can.

If I saw some retard towing some insane amount of weight because they think their little truck can do anything I would call the police in a new york minute and if that person lost their load and it crashed into me or my family I would sue their *** and and financially destroy them and their stupidity in court!!

I think marcus was worried about the trailer being really heavy too, not just the truck. Find out the weight for the trailer too

would it pull it? yes, would it be nice to tow a ranger with a ranger on a trailer? no, but i've pulled about 5000 pounds with my truck of course i had a 6x10 trailer with no trailer brakes and the bed loaded down, it sucked the braking was the worst part of all but if you have a trailer with brakes on it and the correct hitch you should be fine for a short dicstance but that's just me, but you gotta think my 01 ext cab weighs like 4500 i believe and add a 1000pd trailer that's 5500 and another 500pds youre over your towing rate

Don't listen to these Nancy's on here.

If you have trailer brakes, you're one step closer. I would also recommend a weight distribution hitch, which helps out a ton.

Empty car hauler weights roughly 2200 to 2500 pounds, depending on options, ect.

That truck shouldn't weight over 3500, considering my 4x4 4.0 auto weighs 4360 with me in it.

yep, that pretty much sums it up get the load on the trailer right and you got trailer brakes, and if youre still worried put your flashers on and go 10-15mph under the posted speed limit
