Trailer hitches and BLs

I know if I do a BL my bumper hitch is going to be useless. Is there a frame mount hitch that I can still mount closer to my bumper? Even if I have to use a drop receiver to line up with a trailer?

Also, what size ball is the most common? Right now my truck has a receiver (that looks like it was nice, but then someone chopped it and bolted it to the bumper) I didnt get a ball and hitch with my truck, but someday want to get a boat (missed out on a freebie boat, motor and trailer from craigslist tonight) Is it just best to get a 3-way or interchangeable?

Are trailer wiring harnesses universal? Again, I have the harness and plug, but nothing else

Thanks

you do a body lift and you want the hitch to set up under the way its suppose to....you have to fab something up to work that way. My brothers budddy owns a welding shop where they do all fab work on trailers and what not....I asked him bout hacking my hitch up to make it sit up under the way it used to and he said it would be easyer to start from scratch and build one....witch sucks i have 3 hitchs laying around here....

I was thinkin about this in the past, I don't have a body lift but I wondered if I street scenes hitch would work? They are suppose to sit behind the bumper for trucks with roll pans on them. I wonder if it would fall right inline, or close to being right under the bumper on a truck with a 2-3 inch body lift. Just some food for thought.........

that is a normal draw tite hitch that hides up behind the bumper when there isnt a body lift, i have it on my truck that is my brothers truck WITH a body lift, basically looks like the stock hitch that normally comes from the dealer its the best one i would buy.

also you really shouldnt be towing AT ALL from the bumper you really really want a hitch to tow anything...

That is a nice truck.

Right now Im not towing anything, but eventually, if I break down and buy a boat (pondering it for sometime now) I want to be ready.

My hidden hitch sits just like the drawtite in the pictures. It looks 'okay', but it's still hanging down there, and I've drug the hitch into the ground on multiple occasions.
