train horn question

ok i couldnt decide between two things that i wanted for xmas so i just said F it and decided to go with this, which ive wanted for a long time. i did alot of ebay searching and i really liked the sound of this one. they have a store with a bunch of other setups, pretty much all of them are in my price range so if you find another 200-250ish let me know. the brand on this one is kleinn, but i want your feedback and opinions.

also if theres anything else i will need ontop of this kit.

Spend the money and get quality components. Go with a hornblasters kit

well thats not an option right now. i can spend up to 300. so find somethin in that range. i mean how much quality is there in a train horn? idc if they rust, they will be hidden. its air pushed thru horns. price depends on the size of tank, psi, and compressor. i can see a LITTLE difference in brands on the actual trumpets, but its a pretty basic concept.

Its not the horns its the compressor, tank and everything else.

You need a air pressure gauge for the tank. That kit is cheap too, you don't want a integrated compressor with the tank. Look for a Viair 380

MOTOunplugged 12-14-2008 09:42 PM

whatever you do.. dont cheap out on train horns. it's going to take atleast $450-600 to get a set that sounds good. that is a tiny tank in that kit. i've got a 5 gallon tank and it really doesn't last as long as i wish it did.

You'll need a GOOD set of earplugs by the sound of that thing! :shhh:

korey89 12-15-2008 12:58 AM

That kit is garbage. Those are such ****ty tank/compressor combos, it will crap out on you very soon. Also that tank is .8 gallons, which is way too small. I have a 2 gallon and all I get out of it is a 5 second blast or two before the compressor kicks on. And look at the airline that comes with it, that's not DOT airline so that probably means that thing is 100PSI max.

www.hornblasters.com is the only way to go

And my point is proven, thanks guys. This is one of those things that you get what you pay for.

the horns are decent and decent isnt the best word for it, below decent its 4 30 sorry my brain isnt rolling yet. The horns are "loud" and will be different from what you have now aka stock horn, but is no where near the best sounding horns on the market. The tank is a very small tank so be ready for your compressor to be running most of the time, that will be the 1st thing that needs to be replaced hands down. You get what you pay for, spending 250 bucks on everything is very cheap, like said before you will be spending anywhere from 450-600 for a decent set up, that will do the normal fella well. If you want to go above and beyond, spending 500-750 just on horns, and going from there.

Like I said before that kit will work, good luck with it, post pics of the install and good luck!

yellow_edge 12-15-2008 02:57 PM

okay lets say i find a 5 gallon tank on my own, thru a friend, cheap. all i need is the trumpets and wiring/hoses. where can i find a kit that has only that? links?

04blackedge 12-15-2008 03:02 PM

How are you going to fill up the tank?

That wireless deal is the sh!t. What else does it control?

Your horns sound sweet btw!!

yellow_edge 12-15-2008 03:09 PM

a compressorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, what details shud i look fo

04blackedge 12-15-2008 03:10 PM

Lol you need a solenoid too to tell the compressor when to start filling the tank up and when the tank is full.

The Viair 380c is a great compressor.

yellow_edge 12-15-2008 03:10 PM

http://www.hornblasters.com/products...php?item=AH-S4

this one is do-able, also has solenoid

04blackedge 12-15-2008 03:15 PM

You'll need a tank and compressor to go with that.

yellow_edge 12-15-2008 03:22 PM

yes i kno that. i will probally get one cheap thru my friend. now if i get that trumpet kit what do the details need to be on the tank/compressor. minimum psi, max psi, etc?

korey89 12-15-2008 03:44 PM

Those are the horns I have. You need atleast 150psi.

t0x1k 12-15-2008 05:47 PM

suicidedoors.com for the compressors and air line and everything
I dealt with them for my air ride setup on my car. Couldn't have been happier.

Heres a great kit. http://www.suicidedoors.com/train-ho...n-complete-kit
shell out the extra cash, like everyone said, you need a 5g or larger tank. Horns pretty much dump all the air out of the tank and to the horns.

korey89 12-15-2008 08:39 PM

^^^ Those horns are the hornblasters horns

Also the hornblasters 4 piece horns have a lifetime warranty and the diaphragms are stainless unlike the China ones. If they ever break just send them back and they will replace the trumpet(s) for free.

DCRVP 12-15-2008 08:42 PM

i went with a company called siege engineering on ebay. I got the kong2 kit shipped to the door for alil more then 350
