Upholstering Explorer seats

Hey Guys,

Just wondering if anybody had any experience upholstering the explorer seats. Just wondering the difficulty of the job. I found some real nice camo vinyl fabric that would look awesome. I can sew and was pretty good at it. Any advice will be appreciated. What would help would be maybe how to figure out how much material I need. Also thinking about two tone camo and charcoal. Just ideas right now and if yall have any ideas please let me know.

Jeremy

A member here does it for a living and I am sure he will post when he sees this. Its not the easiest thing in the world to do.

i've done several sets of them. there are a few different style of expo seats, some aren't too bad to recover, others are pretty difficult. as far as how much material, 5 yards should be enough to do in one color, or if doing two materials, 2 yards for the inserts, 4 yards for the rest. don't forget your 1/2" and 1/4" scrim foam as well. here are some i have done over the past couple years.

this one was modified heavily, but still an explorer bucket:

charcoal grey cloth

light grey cloth

replaced just the inserts in these...grey suede with black piping:

and this is the current set i'm working on. black leather with grey embroidery and some 270 weight thread (it's big!):

The grey is the one I am getting. If it turns out as good as I imagine it in my mind I think it will look real good. I have some more questions but I will wait until I get to a real keyboard. It takes me forever to type on this phone. My fingers are too big I guess.
