Very simple front skidplate... (large images)

I'll give you my opinion of the Mile Marker: it's somewhat slow, but very trustworthy, lol. Look at this topic, which I believe pre-dates your time here. All you need is the pictures:
Dangling from a winch cable in Centralia
And that's just one of the (too) many times I've been on the business end of Tom's winch, lol.
Also, last winter it failed out of warranty when Tom and I were out, just the two of us (and my brother, but in my truck), in Wharton State Forest on a VERY cold day. We had to hail down a passing Jeep (lucky to see ANYONE out that day) to winch Tom out. The magnet field had cracked and shattered -- which I never heard of ANY winch doing. Tom contacted MM, and they replaced it free OUT OF WARRANTY.
That kind of thing is sometimes very important for the weekend wheeler. Speed is nice, but so is customer service.
Here's the trip where we had problems:
Roll up! For the Wharton Mystery Tour
The tires on my truck are 265/75/16 BFG ATs and the truck has no lift other than turning the torsion bars up a bit to level out the front after adding the winch.
I'm very pleased with my Milemarker winch. I've had issues (as John mentioned) with it but overall it's been very good to me. Now that I have a full size Optima for the second battery, I think it will work even better. The MMe9000 is definitely slow compared to other brands, but considering the price and how often I use it, the thing definitely suits me well.

It was a combination of weight and price actually. The 1/4" aluminum was cheaper than 1/8" stainless and I believe the weight is comparable. I also like the idea that aluminum will never rust (as opposed to mild steel) and will give more before doing major damage to the truck... In theory.
I used Duplicolor bedliner in a can on my sliders and it chipped off easily. The Herculiner is much better for sliders and would probably last longer on the skidplate too. I'm just going to leave it for now and see how it holds up.
John, I may go try to test it for a couple hours today. Unfortunately, there aren't may rocks in Wharton to bang on it. BTW, I'm working on that documentation for you.

Tom can you draw that up using the software I gave you and host a .dxf file? That sould be importable for anyone much the same way I had you make the DXF to fab your bumper brackets on computer controlled plasma cutter.
lol! Travis, where the heck is Dillsburg? PA's a big place. I'm down towards the southeast corner of the state. Are you in range to join us for some offroading sometime? We often get up to the Centralia area (north of Reading and Pottsville, in that area).
