I use my truck to get around town, short road trips, and occasionally hauling stuff. I have no desire to ruin the paint job with mud, and stones. I want my truck to last a very long time...I think they call it "taking care of things."
thats why u own a 4x2 4 cyl ranger. lol
its against the laws of nature to own a 4x4 and never show it some mud.

I own a 4x2 because I wanted a 4x2, not a 4x4. I don't need or like 4x4's. Just more things to go wrong. I wanted a nice simple truck, and that's what I have. A nice truck that's inexpensive to own, inexpensive to drive, dependable, and that's what I got. if I wanted to play in the mud, I'd go back to driving a back hoe.

MMkkkaaayyy...

So my car should only be used for beebopping around town? I am not supposed to have spirited occasions? The second I give it some gas that means I am not taking care of it?

I am just trying to understand.

^^If that is the case...I would have bought a Prius...

I think that we can do whatever the hell we want with our vehicles. Some people are just more stupid than others. You know. People that neutral drop to burnout, people that hit a massive puddle of water at 50 MPH or people that think that 4wd or AWD gives them the ability to speed at 100 in heavy rain on the freeway.

x2 I'd be ripping on that stang or any other fun car/truck, you have to sometimes or wheres the fun? and whats the piont in owning the vehicle if you don'thave fun with it every now and then? I don't break any of my stuff, I don't beat the **** out of it like most of my friends who drive, but I do drive it hard every now and then.

Yep, just because you have a 4 wheel drive vehicle doesn't mean you're invincible. I used to think that until I did a 360 on the freeway while driving a 4 wheel drive vehicle. After that I slowed down.

Now my main goal is to have a truck that'll last me many years. So I baby mine, and when it comes time to re-sell it, I'll be further ahead with a truck in good condition vrs. one that's all beat up.

allow another 4x2 guy to chime in

its a truck, and mine is likely one of the cleanest 99s on this board. But its a truck. Its meant to get used, and getting stuck in the mud is no big deal as long as you detail and spray the mud off (incl underbody) afterwords.

I have gone off roading (nothing hardcore) have gone to the snow, have driven cross the country and back, etc

some say i should have a 4x4, i like the fuel economy of the 2wd, and was about to buy a lowering kit off another member here until unexpected expenses came up

furthermore, if i am not hauling something at least once a month, what do i need a truck for the loss of fuel economy verses the integra that preceded it

wouldnt be worth it at that point (96 integra ls 5spd, 32 mpg hwy @ 80 mph with ac blasting)

His axle stopped him from sinking any more because I stood in the bottom of that rut and kept sinking. Quickmud. And for the record, that isn't me or my truck. That was the guy that tried the ditch after my B3000 failed. His 36's destroyed my 265/75-16 ruts.
