Well... Just voided my warranty!
Well the other day I took my 08 Ranger with under 20,000 KM to Ford because of 2 reasons.
1. After I got my body lift I heard a small sqeak coming from the rear going over tiny bumps
2. My high beams stopped working
Take it in, get a phone call a hour later saying the ford tech couldnt pinpoint the squeak and said maybe it was my e-brake cable rubbing but wasnt sure. Also i needed the OEM headlights back in for them to diagnose the problem. Was kinda upset i had to spend $150 on labour and nothing got fixed. Got into a big arguement with the 60 year old seahag of a service manager about how my body lift voids any suspension warranty I will ever run into.
According to her, because of my body lift being put on, it will effect any suspension problems I may run into. Apparently my arguement back of " a body lift doesnt affect my suspension, im only lifting my cab up" didnt suffice
I found out later that the reason i was squeaking was because about after a week was my body bolts needed to be tightend , thanks Jesse (cooke15). And once i took out my xenon headlights and put the stockers back in my highbeams went back to normal.
Anyways sorry for my rant. The service manager also told me to take out my K and N air filter because it will void engine warranty and she voided someones engine warranty on a 1 year old truck because it was in! Just a word of caution.
PS im still running my stock tires with my bl. Is there a Canadian equivalent to the magnussen moss warranty act

That is CRAP. I had a k+n in my ranger. I had it serviced a Metro, they didn't care. They Can't void the warranty because of an aftermarket part. They Can however refuse warranty work if the aftermarket part caused the fault. Metro told me that the only thing my k+n did was cause me problems if my MAFS ever went bad. As for your bodylift, It doesn't have anything to do with the suspension. Tell that dealer to pound salt and go to another one. Some seem more mod friendly than others. I think Jesse has had his truck at metro with a body lift, torsion keys and 33's for work. Maybe I'm wrong

Something that doesn't need oil. FWIW I ran a k+n in my ranger for 80k km with no issues. I cleaned the mafs regularly and was very careful with how much oil I put on the filter

don't coat your k&n in oil and it won't burn your maf... they have to prove to you that the problem was caused by the mod that you did... bottom line! if you paint the outside and the con rod gets thrown through the head, can they tell you it's because of your paint?
i also wouldn't have paid the $150... they didn't find anything out, and did no work and made no progress... i'm sorry, but you didn't do what was asked of you...

Sounds to me you should call the area factory rep and complain... I used to work for a chrysler dealer and let me tell you if you b!tch enough they will either warranty it or agree to pay for half to shut you up... bottom line ford wants your business.
We had a lady who kept burning up clutches in her jeep in no time at all and because she kept b!tching they kept replacing them for free... Also SHE put the top down wrong and Broke it 3 seperate times and they replaced them even though she ddnt read her manual that tells you what not to do. ANd she also had 4 radios put in the jeep cause she kept breaking the ***** off.

hes from canada and i doubt magnuson act was passed there too. always put up a fight make a huge scene and try to disrupt as much business as possible around you instead of paying money, its sad but with business built on screwing you for your last dollar being a b!tch usually works

i'll talk to the chevy dealer near my place, the guy who runs the body shop, that fixed my truck, used to be the manager there, and their location policy is not to sell anything that is not required, and any employees caught embellishing anything for the purposes of sales will be fired... i'll ask if that law is up here also
as for the dealership in vancouver, go to brown brothers, they are an SVT dealer, and they make their own vehicles, they had lightening bolts there a while ago, which were in house made, so they know what ford will honor and what they won't

I dont think so. Canada ( the Canadian and Ontario Govs) are very loth to do anything that might upset what manufacturing jobs we have ( aka the Auto industry) which are unionized ( the Big three). The MM act as far as it applies to cars basically says that you cannot have the warranty taken away because you use after market parts or labour and that also, for example, you cannot have the engine warranty removed if you use a non-mfrs part that does not affect the engine.
there are many US laws which canada could well copy and this is one of them but I suspect (without getting out my copy of the BNA and re-reading it) that the provinces would have to pass and enforce this one . ( lets NOT discuss "peace, order and good goverment" and the residual powers of the federal gov in this forum..please...unless Grant opens a sub forum for it)
I am wearing my Nomex suit...

Find a better dealer man. Your in Poco, there are going to be tons in different cities around you. I've always had good luck with MSA in abby. Bit of a drive for you.
But not trying to be a dick, but it sounds like every problem that you had, and brought to the dealer, was caused by you? How can they warrenty your modifications? Just askin.
The sea hag probably could have handled it different, but I can kinda see her point of veiw

like all have stated, find a new dealer. we all know, a body lift doesn't affect the suspension. now, if your body mounts rust away after a year or two, then yes. the dealer can say "we'll they rotted because you put that lift on there and scrached under there down to bare metal"
aren't you able to usa k/n without having to oil it? i could have sworn that my step-dad years ago just hosed out the k/n, let it dry and threw it back in.

k&n are useless without oil, the purpose of the oil is to catch the dirt in the air... it's kinda sticky, the holes in the actual fabric are too big to catch it without the oil... a clean k&n does not filter well at all (even with oil) the dirt helps to catch more dirt, so a dirty k&n works better, you are supposed to keep it some what dirty (visibly dirty) to be more functional... except, that in a flow test between k&n and paper, the k&n will get dirty and resist airflow, to be equal flow to the paper, before either has any visible dirt, and the k&n still is not filtering as well as the paper is...
as a result, i refuse to run k&n

They wernt HID high beams, they were the white xenon lights. Also guys, am I allowed to take my truck to another ford dealer then the one i bought it at? Metro Ford seems like a bunch of crooks to me, so can i go to another dealer to have servicing done?

Body lift can effect the brakes. It can effect the a/c unit. It can effect grounding. It can effect the relationship between your fan and radiator. It can effect the radiator guard. It can effect the steering. It can effect the gas tank (in both keeping pressure and gassing it up without the nozzle clicking off).
