As it sits on the stock mount plates, unbolted:

I am taking my motor mount plates to school tomorrow to use the Bridgeport mill to extend the isolator bolt holes out some to allow them to bolt to the 4.0 isolators.

I'll pull them off and show ya what I mean...

Notice the nice, new Performance Tool Engine Lift Chain Kit. This is very handy and makes for a secure lift. I recommend it to everyone looking into motor pull jobs, as it saves time and is very safe, rated to 1000 pounds on each end.

Anyone know anything about Connector 125 - the "Inline"? Mine don't match up, and must one will have to be swapped.

Someday I hope I can have a truck worthy of being in Off-Road Adventures member's section, too. I doubt a street-built Cobra sportin Ranger would make it into ORA, though.

Maurice, I'm so jealous of your feature!

Had to see what it looked like...
Yes it's just sitting there...for entertainment purposes only.

And my motor mount mill-job....which didn't work. I have an offset problem that I couldn't predict until all 4 bolts were through the motor mounts. My mill job allowed me to see the proper adjustments I need to make, which will be drilling new holes on the driver's side (L) plate, which is 3/8" thick, so I'm not worried about decreasing integrity or strength.

So what kind of gas mileage do the 5.0s get? you know with todays gas prices.....I would want to do the 4.6 mustang motor b/c you can still get like 24mpg or so on the highway.

I have heard stories of 5.0's and foxbodies getting 20mph on the highway with ac on, just have to know how to keep your foot off the gas and not have it down to the floor all the time.

That really doesn't make sense. As long as you know when to keep your foot out of the throttle and don't have some insanely steep gears (see: 4:30's) running around on the streets all the time, you should get the same mpg out of it as a 4.6. Not to mention the sound the 5.0 makes that the 4.6 could never do. Pushrod ftw!

Yeah I got a little over 25mpg in my roomate's old 97 GT one time on the highway.. it was tough not wanting to push that car, that motor likes to rev and sounds nice up there in the higher RPMs. In the city it's a different story, it did around what my truck got MPG wise.

I'm not concerned the slightest bit about my gas mileage decrease. With the 4-banger I had before, I was barely getting 23mpg anyway, so a few miles less per gallon won't hurt the back pocket too badly!

After all...this is my PROJECT truck...not my SOLE MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION. I won't be driving it unless it's nice outside (no rain or snow)!

I picked up some Fusion black gloss paint today to paint the OHC. I'm amazed at that paint, because it dried in 15 minutes or less, and required no sanding or prep!

Also, I finally PURCHASED (instead of renting) a coil-spring compressor. It's much better than the rentals, and will allow me the freedom to work at my own pace instead of meeting some stupid deadline for rental return.

Finally, I got myself some PowerSlot front rotors and matching pads to complete the front end. Once I get the coils compressed and the spindles mounted back up, I'll install the rotors and snap some pics! My old rotors were worn so badly, they couldn't even be turned!!! YIKES!

Well, that dont make sense either. as long as he doesn't care about gas mileage, thats all that matters.
