What is the best type of floor jack for 02 Ranger

My son has an 02 Ranger, it is 2X4, but he may trade for a 4X4 at some point. He needs a jack, mostly just for emergencies. A floor jack seems best to me, I just have never purchased one and not sure what to get him. 2 ton, 3 ton, how many inches to lift? Can someone give me advice on a good one to purchase?

For general use around the garage, a 3 ton floor jack comes in extremely handy. Something like this would work well:

That was a huge coincidence! I was just viewing that exact one online. I see Harbor Freight carries it. I'll go there tomorrow. Thanks!

Be sure to use a coupon when you check out.

Is this a jack to carry around in the truck or use around the house? If it's for hauling around in case of a flat tire, there are better options.

Mostly for changing tires etc.

He is not a mechanic, but I want him to have something quick and easy to use if he has a flat. I see the coupon says not for floor jacks. Any other suggestions let me know.

Keep in mind that this jack weighs 70 pounds and will take up a lot of space in the cab.

This coupon should work:
