I want to know if im missing any lights? (if any are burnt out). I took this right when I turned the switch to start, right before you crank it.

Brake light comes on when emergency/parking brake is set.
Theft.....im not sure about that one, my truck dont have PATS (im assuming that is the chip inside the key, and my key is real thin) My brothers 2000 ranger had a thicker key and flashed Theft on the cluster.
Gas light........did those come standard on all rangers? I've never seen it on, and i've gotten it down pretty close to empty, a little less than half way inbetween 1/4 and empty.

I've heard ya'll talking about Cel? what is that?

 

Check Engine Light, you should have a "Check Gage" light as well, which mainly acts as your gas light, I believe it also acts as a low oil pressure light.

 

he doesnt have a tach, so theres no "check gage" light.
and his CEL is working, its the light at the top.

all the lights i can think of are working, the BRAKE light only comes on when the parking brake is on.

 

You have a 4cyl, which explains why you don't have a THEFT light, the PATS system was only on 6cyl models in 2000. And only the models w/ a tach have a gas light, which annoys me. I guess I could get a speedo w/ a tach...eh...

 

Thats something I plan to do, cause I cants stand to not be able to what the rpms rise and stuff. I gotta replace a couple bulbs behind the cluster, so i'll use that as an excuse to get one. lol

why does it matter if it has a tach or not, they're not related. It is fuel and oil pressure related.. wow smart engineering there.. oh and the Brake light comes on when brake fluid is low as well

 

eh, I don't miss not having one, I'm getting a new truck soon, so it doesn't matter...

i got my cluster(with tach) off ebay for $24 shipped.
just keep looking and you will find one.

make sure you check the bulbs when you get one, mine had 3 bad bulbs when i got it.

 

damn that sucks about the gas light, i dunno what i'd do w/o it lol I tend to run till the end.. haha.. and yes i know what kind of disservice i'm doing to the fuel pump, hasnt failed me yet though, been doin it since 24k miles and have 86k on the truck..
