What damage did i do?

My son drove my 1987 ranger with the front hubs locked. The for wheel drive was not engaged but the hubs were really hot when he stopped. Do the front wheel bearings need to be repacked? he drove it that way for about 20 miles.

thanks

Probably none. I drove my old 93 Bronco that way for 2 years, never pulled the hubs out, and never had an issue.

Everything should be fine. The 2001 and up trucks don't even have hubs. They have a live axle setup.

He said it's an 87

What i meant was I never unlocked my hubs for 2 years, never had issue with them.

Yeah I know he said 87 but I was just saying that the later trucks don't even use hubs.

if they are hot i would question the grease inside them, maybe they have always been getting hot? other than that i doubt you caused any issues.
