What do you always keep in the truck box?
What items do you always have in your truck tool box, weather it be a small box that sits inside, or the bed mounted box. What do you keep in there at all times?

all i have right now is a set of jumper cables, a ratchet strap, a couple bungees, a 2 ft adjustable, and a big ole' sledge. lol random yes, but i got them from work and havent "returned" them yet.
need to get some recovery equipment, and a tool set, then ill be content

Decent size socket kit, zip ties (the good ones-nylon- NOT the crappy little plastic junk ones that rot off in a year), jumper cables, Hi-lift, empty 2 gal. gas can (gas gauge is screwy) assorted nuts/bolts/washer/ whatsitz, chain, goofy hooks for connecting chain to cars, tow/recovery strap, 4 way lug wrench and spare lugnuts. Most times, extra oil, ATF for powersteering (hey, it's a Ford... it can't help but leak.) and maybe a light duty compressor.
All the time: Towing and hitch stuff for my trailer, tie downs for my motorcycles, jack tools and wheel chocks, jumper cables, a small vinyl tarp for laying on the ground if need be next to or under the truck.
When traveling (which is a half dozen times a year): All of the above plus a small Craftsman tool box with all the sockets and other stuff I need for a basic roadside repair, a jug of 50/50 coolant, and a jug of bug wash/windshield washer anti-freeze.

Sm 4 dr Tool Bax (Craftsman) Tow Strap, small chain, Toilet Paper at least one roll in a plastic bag (the wife and other ladies on a run have thanked me for that), 5 qts of oil (when going on a run), bailing wire, assorted electrical lugs and wire, tie wraps, “X” Lug Wrench, Small hydraulic jack, assorted attachments for the hy-lift jack, flares, mag mount strobe light - amber, one of those aluminum blankets and the infamous indian blanket. and the list goes on.
in my bed tool box i keep all my tools, power inverter, rope, toilet paper, gloves, paper towels, jumper cables, straps, my jack, a blanket, pair of boots, jug of antifreeze, jug of water, first aid kit, second extiguisher(one in cab), 10" buck knife, 75 rounds of 7.62x54r ammo, and a handle of Cutty Sark scotch.
The next question is: Do you keep the Mosin to go with the rounds in there, too? Mine usually "hides" behind the seat, but, runs uphill to the top of the cab on the passenger side. If you don't know what a Mosin is, then this wont apply or make sense to you...
I got two,and now I got an idea.
shovel w/ chopped handle, 4ga jumpercables, hi-lift, 2qts of oil, windshield washer fluid, 50/50 coolant, a couple sets of tools, -20F sleeping bag, 50ft 220volt extension cord, an organized box of assorted 12ga shells "life is like a box of chocolates", old sweatshirt from college, carhartt overalls, waterproof gloves, also often carry a 12pack of Rainier Beer
Things I want for my toolbox...
Pirate Flag
mini air compressor
my bed lined
outragous assortment of bumperstickers to line the inside of the toolbox

I usually keep it horizontal under the back jump seats. I wanna do vertical but haven't made a strap to hold it yet.
We think alike.
I keep very little in the ranger actually. a basic set of hand tools and a flash light. and a couple pieces of tie wire... I dont even have a jack! LOL
knock on wood.
In my other truck? Its a rolling shop, with just about every tool one would ever need in home improvement... I usually have to hand out drool cups to the other contractors on jobs I go to...
