i got the truck as a gift.

i never asked for a truck.

i had a good 92 explorer.

ford had such good deals and 0%, my dad wanted to put me in something other than the 150,000 mile piece o junk. (but i loved that truck. it was soooo clean)

so, i got my ranger as a gift when i turned 17.

but i am the one whose hard work(worked at a bank from 17-20), savings, etc.. has made it look a little neat.

i pay $300 a month. And it is damn tuff. it sux being in my position just when i had something that was getting nice then i got nothing. Now to pay off the ranger i got 2 jobs. I got to high school from 7:25-12:35 come to the job i am currently at from 1-5 which is pretty easy considering this is the main part of my job. And from here i go straight to my other job working on machines at a bowling alley from 5:30-10 I get home bout 10:30 fall asleep get up and do it all over again. I should get it paid off soon though then the modding will come very quick and once i get the truck to were i want it i will quit the bowling alley.

Well, I paid for my truck and my mods myself (which is why I don't have a 4.0L 4x4 with a 6" lift or anything awesome like that) but I live on my own and pay my own bills. Oh yeah, and this sucker is PAID FOR.

For me...

I started working and saving since the 9th grade... Then in the 10th grade, i inherited a 1974 coupe deville with 40K original miles. I was happy with it cuz it was free but my mom said it wasnt safe enough so i sold that and i sold my 280zx that my friend gave me for the truck... What little money i have now after payin insurance and gas, goes into the truck

My dad bought me my truck for a couple reasons. I had saved up enough to buy this old GMC. My dad basically told me he didn't want me to be driving that POS and to look for a Ranger with a driver air bag, ABS and under 50K miles priced reasonably. Paying for a 1977 GMC that sat in a field for four years or getting a "free" Ranger wasn't a hard choice to make. I actually didn't have much of a choice, my dad said no GMC! That was fine by me! His conditions were that I would take care of the Ranger and that this would be the only vehicle he would buy for me...that's more than fair IMO. I have not taken what he did lightly. I take very good care of my truck.

I agree with you fletch. I posted a topic about this a few months ago and got my *** flamed. But im proud im paying every payment on my mustang, every cent of rent and everything on my own without mom or dad. They dont give me a cent. They taught me to save when I was 12 years old. Besides, when you pay for your own vehicle you treat it better because it has more personal value since its all your hard work. But like i said in my last topic. Im just jealous. No handouts for me, I pay for it all with hard work.

My parents paid half the down payment as a gradutaion gift and the rest is on me. I pay $330 a month and that's why I'm not moving out until it's paid off. Hopefully will be by next summer. My parents are very against me doing anything to my truck and everything I do is out of my pocket.
I save almost all my money except what is needed for truck payments. Since I don't buy very much stuff, I like to get something every once in a while. Last year I bought a new guitar. This year I bought WAAG and KC lights.

i paid for my first truck 92 ranger, and the mods for it, insurance, gas, parts... everything.
its the same way with my 03 i called the dealer i worked out the deal i waited till i was 18, i choose the truck, i signed the papers(dad cosigned), i paid for plates, insurance, gas, parts, mods everything i have i paid/paying for. ive worked since i was 14 and have had even 2-3 jobs at sametime.
im not complaining id rather have it that way. my mom and dad have provided me with lots of other things like a roof, food, school, and a place to park my truck at night,

for me, i bought my first car, at 19. a 93 mazda 626 from my mom. unfortunately, the car was a money pit, 2 transmissions and 9 distibutors later, i was on my way down to the country when the alternator crapped out. enuff was a enuff. i had had it with this car. that was july 2004. i started lookin for some other vehical. used mostly, then my neighbor bought a stripped down, bright red 2 door extended cab ranger, 4x4 lease, for $120 a month. and thats what got me and dad into the ranger deal. come to find out, he put 5,000 down on that lease... Doh!

so we started dealing, and with 4k in rebates, and an extra2k off from dealin, we walked away with my truck a 2004 ranger xlt, extended cab, 4x4 2 door, value pkg - pwr windows, cruise, rubber fllor, bench, for 16,800 on a 12k/yr 36Kmile lease. $0 down but tags, and a payment of $248. this didnt happen by itself, dad co signed the lease, and i used dads credit. the problem here is that i had no money to speak of to put down on the new truck because all my money went into the mazda. 2 new transmission - $2500. new distro every 6,000 miles - $400, new alternator $500 it was never ending and the parts were always grossly expensive. so, no money down and as low as we could go, on my truck. thing is, i pay for the payment every month. me and mom set up a checking acct, and i deposit money every week from my paycheck to this acct. even if its just $20 still put it in this acct. this pays for my insurence, and my payment every month, and if i come up short, whatever was left over the month before will cover it, i have only been really short once, and that was about 3 months ago, alot of **** came due and had alot of bills that had to be paid, and my mom fronted me $200 to pay the truck... i have since paid her back. ill admit, im not the greatest at managing money, but this system i set up with my mom works very well. as far as my mods go, i bought all but my tonnaeu cover on ebay. I paid for everything on that truck, my truck looks nice - expensive, but dont forget - valu pkg - stripped version. heh.. even so, $250 a month, for 6 years is alittle steep, but its a new truck, covered under warranty.

in the 15 months i have had the truck i have put approximately $1300 in "extras" on the truck.

im 18 and everything on my truck I bought...including my truck.
i am very proud to say that to because im a lifted with 33's..
the ONYL thing that i haven't bought for my truck was the floor mats, and they were a x-mas present.

i bought my 01 for 11k after taxes.
When your parents MAKE you save your money instead of spending thoes $2 on candy ..good things happened.
My dad gave me 3k towards my 1st 99 ranger and i bought the rest with my money when i was 17.
I have been working since i was 12 and saved a LOT of money. Once i had enough money i sold my 99 and bout a 01 4x4.
I take it one mod at a time...

my dad paid for mine for a few reasons. the biggest being my dad sold our 03 s-10 for a marauder and having a lawncare/landscaping business we need a truck. i was suppose to get a used chevy truck but my dad decided since i had good grades and did what he asked when he asked i got a price range to pick out whatever i want. but i pay for my goldwing, close to 5000 a year to truck/bike insurance, gas and all the crap to keep them running, not to mention all my other bills, and to add on top of that i had to get my own health insurance policy costing me a crap load to get it started.

A few peole mentioned their money they make. I know i am not rich, but i dont work either.

I make about 2200-2400 a month, depending on comission. I 'work' 10 hours a day, but only actually work about 1-2 hours of that. Rest of the time i just sit and watch TV or play PS2.

As for how i pay for my truck, i burned 3k i had saved to buy a Corvette to mod it out. After the 3k was gone, i have started putting it on Credit cards. have about 1k debt plus my truck payment now, but i get a raise in 1 month.

Truck payment is 233 a month.
