price range is key.... for 16-18k you can get a nice Ranger FX4 level 2 which is set up for offroad use pretty much stock... to lift it your looking at over 1200 for a suspension lift

Yep, a good 1200-2000 or so for a suspension lift.. dont bother with a body lift if your looking for just offroading, suspension is key, and depending on your area and what type of offroading, look at some good shocks that are nice and firm, high quality offroading shocks.. the more you spend on shocks, the less youll spend on internal repairs from real bad jars.. thats how I look at it Not sure of a specific brand you might like, Rancho is pretty good, but I have heard Bilstein is decent as well.. head over to the suspension area and run a few searches there for previous ford owners and their shock setups

The FX4 2 models have rear tow hooks instead of a tow bar. And it also has the bigger rearend I believe? Not too sure.. other will chime in on it.
