What will happen to the Ranger?

ok so i posted a thread about how i was worried about what the new rangers will look like? but then i talk to someone and they;re like they're not making the Ranger anymore, the next person says its gonna be an f100, the next says they're redsigning it, etc....

NOW i am all confused!!!! Can someone PLEASE inform me of what the FINAL outcome of the Ford Ranger is....

-are they discontinuing it?
-redesigning it?
-changing to F100?
-or something else?

sorry guys, its been so misleading, i have read that they are closing the plant, does that mean no more ranger, or are they just going to make a "new" ranger somewhere else?

someone please give me some insight to this mystery, and i possible where did you hear it from (source)

freddie 06-10-2009 06:16 AM

WE DON'T KNOW

THere is no need to fret over it. Just sit back and find out.

We have heard every damn rumor possible, as to what's happening with the Ranger. There really no more need to speculate. Hell, I've heard so many things that automakers were going to do, including Ford, and so many of them have not happened.
IMO, just sit back, and don't sweat it. Don't buy into the rumors, just wait to see what Ford REALLY does, not what they say they're going to do, what the magazines say they're going to do, etc.

Ok? I've heard all of those rumors you've heard, and then some I'm sure. They obviously can not ALL happen, so some of them have to be false. I really don't even know if Ford knows what they're going to do at this point in time. More than once now the Ranger plant was supposed to have been shut down, and has not. Twice now they have extended production of the Ranger. We will see what happens...

swamper06 06-10-2009 06:20 AM

I don't think Ford knows what they're going to do yet....

dixie_boysles 06-10-2009 06:21 AM

what good are you freddie....lol

freddie 06-10-2009 06:25 AM

Lol don't even.

I'm telling you, all the speculation does nothing...

TazDevil07 06-10-2009 06:31 AM

Yeah, I even asked my gf @ Ford and they have no clue. Whatever they do, I don't think its gonna be the same "Ranger" SOOOOO hang on to what ya got! hehe

Recently Ford has been driving a new Ranger Mule around Dearborn. The replacement is coming. When? IDK. From looking at the mule sad days are ahead.

Ford wouldnt bring that over here and call it the Ranger. We have different taste compared to Australia and they know that. I could see ford putting the new front end on a ranger similar to the f150's and expy's tho.

^^ Me too, I think that would be sick too. I see a 1 piece headlight, keeping around the same grille shape and then a redesigned bumper.

dixie_boysles 06-10-2009 09:27 AM

for some reason freddie, the pics u posted just show up as x's on my computer, i can see everyone elses pics...

Its got a Mazda B-series grille. Maybe its the next generation overseas Mazda they are driving around to test. There are a lot of Mazda parts in the Ranger already and it won't be a surprise if they scavenge a few more Mazda parts, even the platform, in the next version Ranger. But whatever they do, it will certainly look different than the international Mazda in the final version. The current international Ranger is a good looking truck.

Like Freddie said its still anyone's guess. Just because they're driving something around doesn't ever mean that it'll go into production. But of course its interesting to speculate...

freddie 06-10-2009 09:29 AM

Scott, it must be the site I posted them from. I really don't think they're intended to be direct-linked, but oh well lol

RangerJacoby99 06-10-2009 09:31 AM

that looks like a nissan frontier lol

GreenGiant 06-10-2009 01:24 PM

i just hope its 1/2 decent looking and performs as well if not better than the current ranger

kymudder08 06-10-2009 02:32 PM

i just threw up in my mouth... anyways, i didnt know they produced different models for different countries. thats dumb, make one and leave it alone. just swap the drive side for the other countries. and yes, looks like a nissan. but uglier

Ha ha! Yeah there ares currently two Rangers (and B Series Mazda). The North American model and the internation model sold everywhere else. Ford has been trying to save money by doing exactly that--moving towards the same models and components in all countries. So the next ranger will likely be an international model.

It looks like the new "T6" Ranger (or potentially the new Mazda BT-50 (international B-Series)) is being designed in Australia and due to be released in 2012 if bloggers are correct. Here are a couple of interesting links:
From Australia: http://www.caradvice.com.au/31814/20...an-spy-photos/
From Europe: 2012 Next Gen Ford Ranger double cab spied in the Alps - Worldcarfans

Its ugly now because they're likely testing new internals and are closely guarding what the final version will look like. But here is the current BT-50 which seems to have a similar grille and headlights. I sure wish mine could fly...

Thailand ranger. i posted that awhile back

dixie_boysles 06-11-2009 01:53 PM

^^^i hate that truck!

07B2300 06-11-2009 02:15 PM

I'd sure have considered it. Short box, grabber orange, diesel option... Looks a bit like a shrunk, sporty f150.
But that said my B2300 is tried and true, does the job, suits me fine. Built by Ford but the dirt and dents are all mine :icon16:
