Tacoma interior=more outdated and ugly looking then the rangers haha, everyone I talk to actually agrees with me. I considered trading my truck for one a while back an the test drive left me liking my ranger even more

Tundra, hands down. Ive seen how fast these things are. Im serious. Like with any vehicle, it all depends on the engine. Old tundras engines not so much, new ones, especially the 5.7 and they are fast as all hell. Take $6k and supercharge that 5.7, and you will see a pick-up truck that can take most mustangs, camaros etc. Also before everyone starts singing the praises of Toyotas, these things are not without problems. Early tundras had brake issues, due to undersized rotors warping within a few thousand miles, newer ones have had transmission issues, also known as the "rumble strip transmission". In fact a few years back, one of the bigwigs at toyota said that the tundra has "disgraced toyota..." And lets not forget the frame rust issues, I guy I knew had a tacoma the same year as my ranger, and that thing had freaking massive corrosion and holes all over its frame rails. Though I do give props to them for giving their customers 1.5 x's the BB value. I guess my point is, Toyota does make good trucks, while utilizing some of the best up-to-date technology. But, I will always put my money on the domestics when in comes to making a reliable truck that can get 'er done. Remember, Ford, Chevy and Dodge were turning out quality trucks decades before Toyota decided to start standing on the shoulders of giants... |

he prolly gets some amount of a discount for working at a yota sealership. I don't blame him of taking advantage. I don't approve but I understand haha

yea but tundras have a lot more power...hell a 4.0 tacoma would smoke a ranger too and FWIW toyota trucks are a lot nicer too...its very tempting working at a toyota dealer to trade my truck in on a tacoma/tundra
|
i beat a 4.0 tacoma with my old 06 2wd...yotas arent that fast. the ones with forced induction might be, but all the rest are not

I have a two lane straightaway right next to my house, You can see three miles in either direction, with nothing but salt marsh on either side. And I've actually timed my Ranger 0-60 about 2 dozen times (stopwatch), I've never gone over the 8.0 sec mark. Depending on the launch, its always about 7.6 to 7.8. I've timed it both ways to compensate for any incline that may be present. Thats with highway tires though, I haven't timed it with my new at's. I'm right at sea level so that might make a difference. So either my Ranger is faster than most or idk...but I've never felt the need to have more power though.

while i havent owned a v6 ranger .... going to my v6 t100 was one hell of a change and i think even my truck would give a v6 ranger a run for its money ... no way youre beating a tundra
|
I live 20 minutes from dearborn MI. GO FORD. besides the tundra is the ugliest truck ive ever seen

Hey Liquidswords32 nothibg makes a Toyota nicer there juust expensive trying to value up the toyota brand so you feel like your running in a lexus class vehicle! There actually tinney driving and not as nice as they seem my brother in law had an 08 tacoma v6 not a bad truck but nothing spectacular he actually traded it up for an H3 just for a change! And on that note his older brother has a rav4 with the big 6 in it its got huts but again loud tinney and not the greatest feeling vehicles either and im a huge Jap fan have haad a pathfinder before and loved it!

I think overall I would agree that the Tundra would beat the Ranger in the Side by side Race but your comparing A full size with a v8 to a compact with a v6 (I would assume) I also agree the Tumdra's got a cartoonie design but that shouldn't effect the drive, and I certainly have felt the gears through the Ranger I've got 2010 with a 4.0 and 5 spd and after having owned a chev s15, chev full size, Nissan Pathfinder, driven in both Tundras and Tacomas, as well as been in other Toyota rides, I would have to sat the /ranger is for its size and reputation very quiet and smooth, like ive said before I am an import fan but am very impressed with the Ranger as well and what fords done with it!
|
I like those numbers!
|
so whats the final verdict here? I'm hearing mixed answer and for some reason ppl are comparing the 4.0 ranger to a 5.7 tundra..... forget the 5.7 because were comparing the 4L ranger to a 4.6 L Tundra. Their power to weight ratios are just about the same....
remember 4.0 vs 4.6? top end & of the blocks who would win..... remember i have a flashpaq which should put me close to 230 hp or so. |
If they are so close then it just depends on the driver and who gets the best launch.
|
still gonna be the tundra even with the 4.6 which still is a gutsy motor
