who would win in a race? 03' ranger (4L) or 10' Tundra (4.6L v-8)
Ranger is so much lighter that the Tundra..... anybody know any facts?
|
go to a dragway and find out lol
|
Nope.
4.6-Liter aluminum i-FORCE V8 DOHC 32-Valve with Dual Independent Variable Valve Timing with intelligence (VVT-i); 310 hp @ 5600 rpm; 327 lb.-ft. @ 3400 rpm |
v8

I wouldn't think so, the new tundras have powerful engines, even though I find the new design freaking fugly as all hell. On that note, does anyone know what a 4x4 ranger 4.0l weighs?? Than we could figure out the power to weight ratio etc.
|
well if you arent going to line up...find the weight of your buddies toyota divided by 310...what's his cab and box size....versus the weight of your ranger divided by 207....gives you the theoretical amount of weight each horse is having to move
|
03 fx4 level II weighs 3594lbs
find out what size cab and bed the yota has and there is your theoretical answer |
I would think it would be fairly even, power-weight isn't going to tell you which is faster. The only way is to line them up!

4.0 Ranger 0-60mph in roughly 8 seconds.
Tundra with this engine went from zero to 60 mph in 7.9 seconds. The race will depend on the driver and reaction time at the light IMHO. |
5-speeds or autos? That will also matter.

Good site for specs on truck/cars http://autos.aol.com/

coming from a toyota dealer employee....the tundra will SPANK the ranger in a race...they haul ass
|
To many variables to judge... Driver, weight, engine, tires, etc. Just go to a track and see!
|
In 2010 toyota upgraded the Tundras base engine, from a 4.7 liter to the 4.6 with 310 horsepower. This new engine goes 0-60 in 7.9 according to insidline, while the Ranger does it 8.3. So going by specs, Tundra wins, but thats still a close match. You go back one year, and that base 4.7 engine only makes 275 horses and 0-60 in 8.5 seconds.
Though if it has 5.7 engine than obviously no contest. What really bothers me is that new 4.6 is rated at 15/20 mpg. What the hell, why does it have better mileage than my Ranger haha. |
Only one way to find out. Over the past summer at the track I saw s new 5.7 tundra take a 6.2 raptor. And for a ranger racing a 8 cyl the 8 will win. Trucks are for work and hauling stuff not racing. Buy a stang if you want a fast car
|
ranger got a 4.0 l v6 ..... tundra got a 4.6l v8 with more body weight
|
yea but tundras have a lot more power...hell a 4.0 tacoma would smoke a ranger too and FWIW toyota trucks are a lot nicer too...its very tempting working at a toyota dealer to trade my truck in on a tacoma/tundra
|
what makes toyota nicer?
|
engines run smoother, shift smoother ,better fit/finish, better reliability...i could go on all night...

nope lol just 4 years working at a toyota dealer
|
Nobody will really win in this race. In the end both of you lose for trying to drag race a truck.
