WHY...

I have a 97 f250 and those years they put chrome plastic linings on the rockers and around the wheelwels and it caused some serious rush issues since water gets behind the molding and rots and eventually you need new pannels 10yrs later..Well I noticed on the ranger they put on the front and rear pannel plastic pieces that cover the body wtf would they do this for? Can I take them off so water does not sit behind it?
