Why cut the ranger?
Look in this months issue of diesel power and there is a guy that put a cummins in a power wagon aftermarket. He isn't experiencing any problems.
Yeah, I am debating on either an older 350 diesel or a dodge with a cummins. I can build so much power out of a cummins that it isn't even funny.

Yeah a 2.9L 4 cylinder? craziness.. and that odd ball I-5.. haha I can vouch for this statement as I have driven one and say that it does NOT feel like 240 horses, feels slower than a 4.0L even on par with my 3.0L, and the terrible noise the engine makes, ughh.. Plus it looks like butt. I dont know why you would by one of those instead of a ranger, i'd rather have a frontier for sure than the colorado, IF the ranger were to be ceased. Although that's only if I HAVE to buy new, i have no problem buying used what so ever. But that's just me.
I vote to drop in the 300 hp 4.6L out of the new Mustang and do that "displacement on damand" (Chevy) or whatever Dodge does with the HEMI where it goes from 8 to 4 cylinders at no load.
Oh yeah....needs to run on E85 too. **** on foreign oil.
While I'm on a roll.....lets go with 33" tires, electronic lockers, DVD and navigation, 4 real doors,....in other words, the ultimate Ranger. SWEET.

down 45% from what ? If they were the number one selling truck and went down 45% they could still be in the top 5 and still selling pretty good. I am not sure just how good they were selling maybe not number one but they have always been selling very well. That article said 6,000 trucks got sold in one month. That's still a lot. I don't know but if i had to guess I would bet that the ranger is giving the colorado a run for its money in sales.
Even if they have something instore for 2010 think about it the 2007 models are out so that makes it less then 3 years away.
I'm pretty sure the ranger is close to the colorado in sales, but I don't think that's saying too much. From what I hear the reviews on the colorado aren't that great... mostly because it's got the least power in it's class. My uncle just bought an '06 and I was pretty unimpressed when I drove it. & I heard the other day that Billy Ford stepped down as CEO, so who knows about the future of the ranger right now, we'll have to wait & see what the new CEO's game plan is I guess.

That will be the end of the Ranger built there,Ford has decieded to close down that plant, it remains to be seen if the european version or whatever they call it will be exported here.

EDIT: I can't spell today, Ford can't see the forest for the trees, we'll call it even...
I will be a testimonial...
Had Ford offered a 4 door ranger, I would not be driving the GMC I have now.
I wanted something with more space, but don't care for the F150's much. I looked at the crew cab Colorado/Canyon's, but the only thing they beat the Ranger on is the size (the crew cab models are actually very roomy). Looked into Explorers and Sport Tracks, but I didn't want an SUV, I wanted a truck.
So there you go Ford, you had a sale, but lost it because you won't do the one thing that will take the Ranger back to the top
.
PS - Make a 4 door, and it will be my next purchase. Make a 4 door diesel, and I'll buy a gas for DD (lowered, of course), and Diesel for work (lifted, of course).

i pretty much agree with everyone here my sweet ranger is due for an overhaul the taco as much as i hate it is a better truck except i dont like the plastic bed thing they got goin on. im a hardcore truck fanatic i heck all i own is trucks 3 to be exact my precious ranger an 87 f150 and a 98 s-10 i refuse to buy imports.but the fact of the matter is if my current brand continues to fail through the years ill be forced to move on to gm or daimler chrysler co. which i really dont wanna do. long live ford

freak those toys, i love my Fx off road ranger. man i hate when people say these trucks are outdated. if i want a 4door ill buy a car? trucks back in the day didnt have these 4doors just a solid built truck. either 2wheel drive or 4x4. if i want to haul people around ill use the wifes car. i have plenty of room in my truck for junk. hell i had the whole back loaded with presents on christmas. these trucks are starting to look like big cars with these 4 doors and stuff. leave the freakin things alone. i see rangers all over the place. people like the simple truck look. if i had my way id buy the xl 2wheel drive 2.3 manual ranger and put some neat wheels on it. 25 to 30mpg sounds good to me.
