Price was a big factor in my choice. But the main reason I got the Ranger over the F150 was because of the F150's size compared to a Ranger, I wanted a truck that I could take anywhere. Plus I haven't really liked the F150 body style since 1997.

i didn't want/need a fullsize truck. i liked the styling of my current ranger, and the price was good. i needed something to get me to the slopes also, and if i needed, something to haul stuff around. plus i wanted a daily driver.

When I got my truck in Nov. of 2003 it only cost me $26.50 to fill up an my dads F-150 was costing him between $50-60 to fill up, that's the main reason right there. I didn't want to pay $50-60 to fill up a truck with gas, but now I am. I am glad I don't have an F-150 now too, because it would cost me nearly $100 to fill. The Ranger is a small truck, but it has never let me down or not been able to do something I needed it to do. The only thing I like about full size trucks is you can carry more than two people comfortably. The ranger also fits down narrower trails better and are a little cheaper to maintain.

I actually dropped to my Ranger from a Full Size Bronco. I couldn't afford gas and maintenance on it anymore and I wanted something that I could 4 wheel easier as well. I narrowed to a Ranger because I couldn't afford a Taco and didn't care much for the 3.4L in the Taco's either. In high school I was torn on what I wanted. I wanted a ZR2 S-Dime, but after my buddy's blew up at 96,000 miles, I ditched that idea. My Grandpa also had a 98 Ranger that I loved. Bought my Ranger with a little love of them, and I'll always have a Ranger in my garage.

i had an 06 gmc envoy denali with everything in it including the gas guzzling v8, besides paying for the gas twice a week almost of my friends drive small compact trucks that only sit 2 so everytime we went somehwere i would get stuck driving which got more anoying each time. now i got my 08 ranger basically stripped down with a 2.3 cuz i have no use for a full size and im not missing any of those other options. that stuff was nice but somthing was always going wrong. im saving TONS of money at the pump, i dont have to drive anyone around, its fun to drive and i can mod to make it my own. ranger is deffinately a smart choice.

My uncle drives an 04 4x2 f250 for work and he puts close to $250 a week in gas in that truck, totaly not worth it, go with the ranger

I just (in may) will be getting rid of my GMC 2500HD 6.0L, gas up here in Canada is insane, I am spending prolly 600$/mth on gas alone, 770$/mth payment on the truck plus 100$/mth ins.

I got the Ranger since its gona save me lots of gas and payment gets 300$ cheaper.

Its all about your needs, I dont need the big truck anymore and its a waste of $$$ to have it, so it only made sense to downsize. I can still haul my 4 wheelers and skidoo, throw some gear in the box and jet up to the camp.

My Ranger should be in May sometime, I hope I like it!

well, i didnt have the choice of a full size or a ranger, i had the choice of my 03 mustang v6, my current vehicle 05 ranger, or an 00 pt cruiser, the truck was actually my grandpa's, had 500 miles on it, so i took it for a drive and fell in love with it, i was so happy, now that i look at it, if i had the choice between a ranger and a f-150, id rather have the ranger, i dont need anything that big at all, plus its good for what i like to do, crawl over stuff, go mudding, its just better for what i use it for, more practical

My first truck was a ranger and I never had a single problem with it, so when I decided I wanted something a bit newer I picked another ranger. I've also had absolutely zero problems with my current Ranger. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another. Plus I don't really need a fullsize.

The Ranger is perfect. A full size is too big for my needs for now. I still haven't used the Ranger to it's full potential; plus it's easier on fuel.

WIDE turning radius... but i found a solution (FLOOR IT while turning, works great... especially with the manual transmission :P)

I wanted a new truck and the 150 was almost 10000 more. Oddly enough the insurance on the 150 would have been cheaper..The only thing that i would trade my ranger for is a new superduty.

I always wanted a truck, a Ranger. I need a 4x4 for hunting, camping and just having fun ect. My Pop had several full size pickups and my friends all had mini pick ups. Back in 2001, I shopped around and being a Ford Man I got the Ranger. Gas milage, price, and practicality as a daily driver were my deciding factors as well. I did look at F-150s but the price was more than I wanted at that time.

I like the looks a lot and its been an Awesome truck! I talked to the salesman who sold it to me a few weeks ago and he couldn't believe it when I told him I've never even had a dead battery or a flat tire(he drives a Ranger too or so he says).

Stay safe all,

I had a 87 ranger before i bought this 02 . I liked the way the year 02 looked so it was what i wanted, so i got it. I am glad it was my choice as I still like it today as much as I did when i got it in 02. Around here this year if u want it lifted the dealer will do it and add it into the financing. U cant beat a deal like that. I almost went out and got a new 08 but finally decided that i really didnt need another truck payment.

Ranger is easier to maneuver around. Big concern as it is my only currently drivable vehicle.

Thanks fellas....a lot of the same reasons you mentioned are why I'm going to stick with a Ranger. The only problem is finding a good candidate locally. I've decided to buy it cash so I'm going to need to wait till about august or september. (Maybe ill buy it for my birthday, lol.). I have a bad habit of buying "project cars" around my birthday, lol.

Thanks everyone and keep em coming. Real world advice is always helpful for everyone in the same boat as me.

Thanks!

I wanted a small truck as I had no need for a fullsize. Heck, I didn't have any need for a truck, I just wanted one. Looks, price, low mileage.....the Ranger worked.
