Icon5 Why no V8 in the rangers?

Anybody know? Will there ever be? I tried to do some research on this and I can't come up with anything.

I guess there wasn't a big enough demand for one. The Ranger is still rumored to die off after 09 so I doubt there will ever be a V8 Ranger from the dealer.

Shiat! I just researched this and yes it's true. It's gonna be gone. That really sucks. These trucks were priced pretty reasonable. Now the F150's are just priced way too high and most of us can't afford them so their gonna need to lower the prices on them or their sales will really be down.

I think ford is going to drop the ranger and make a mid size truck with the V8 option like dodge dakotas

The ranger may die in 09 but ford my just change it up a bit cause I doubt they will discontinue producing a mid-size truck altogether.

Reason why people don't put V8's in the Ford Ranger:
1)Will cost to much
2)Alot of cutting and welding would be done because most Rangers are too compact under the hood.
3)The truck is light and if that motor gets put in it, the Little Danger Ranger would be under alot of Danger, because the back wouldn't be heavy enough- unless you fix that problem.

Wrong, Wrong and wrong. Theres a lot of guys on here that swap the Explorer 5.0s in their trucks. If you get lucky at the JY it won't cost that much, since the Explorers a RBV its a very simple swap, and the Ranger supports the motor fine, the problem is keeping traction lol.

Changed to fully forged internals and go with a big-boost turbo, better results.

I've heard rumors that they aren't going to get rid of the Ranger name, just redesign it and build it at another factory. They aren't killing off the Ranger, they are just closing down the only factory they build it in.

I also heard a rumor of a reborn F100.

Well.....they really need to do something. Most guys with 4x4 4.0 are getting crap for mileage, just ask me. And with only 200 HP, somethings wrong.

GM claims 20 MPG with 315 HP in their half-tons.

Come on Ford....get in the game. I would even go for the 265 HP 3.5 out of the Edge. Six-speed auto....4:10 gears, now your cook'in!

The Ranger is designed to be a mid-sized truck that is supposed to be good on gas, thats why there are no V8s in Rangers. Also the Power to weight ratio is ridiculous like other people have already said. I still want a V8 in My Ranger though. It would be really cool if they made a new Ranger with a turbo diesel in it, but unfortunately they are closing the Ranger factory.
