If the window motor is squeaking and skipping sometimes does that mean there is a belt that needs to be replaced, a motor to replace, or does it just need to be oiled? It still moves fast up and down but its noisy and skipping.

 

There are no belts in the stock system I believe.. I have aftermarket power windows and the drivers side skips sometimes (only when going down, doesnt do it when going up) and when I use white lithium grease on the tracks, it helps a lot.

 

It's time to put a window motor in it. But you need to pull the regulator out to check the teeth, and white lithium grease does help.

 

You may need to adjust the the window tracks. Or just lube the sliders/gears.

Also clean your windows, a dirty window on my truck will cause it to bind. ( partly because my track are a bit a skew)

 

How do you adjust the tracks? that's what the guy at A1 Electric told me to do as well..

 

While it is possible that the regulator is bad, it's not the most likely problem, I would first make sure that the lift motor hasn't come loose, and make sure that the window is able to move freely. (A binding window whether it be the glass tight in the track, or a frozen regulator will burn up the power window lift motor).

If it's making clunking or skipping noises, chances are the damage is already done and any adjustments you may be able to make would either have no or very little effect.

You can lube the regulator, and I have found the best lube is any light congealing grease in a spray can or motorcycle chain lube. It sprays on as a liquid therefore it gets into where it needs to be and then gels up and remains in place better.

The window motor and regulator are sold separately and a window motor is a fairly easy swap. Unless you remove the door panel and see that the regulator is obviously stripped or missing teeth, I would try doing just the window motor first.

IIRC, theres 3 bolts on the front track. My computer is currently not in use so I cant get exact info.
