Went and checked out my truck today. Glad they cut off part of the bumper so they can drive it around the lot without ****ing up my new tires. Went in and talked to the guy and he gave me a sheet with everything needed repaired. Turns out my hood needs replacement as he found a few dents on it, but those were there when I bought the truck. I hope he gives me a power dome hood and a nice honey comb grill instead of that ugly chrome one, other than that I got an estimate of the damage. $3,018, which was crazy, should be fixed in about 2 weeks time. The goodside is I may get a powerdome hood! I hope.. haha if not whatever I liked both. Thats all the updates for now. We'll see what happends in a few weeks.

Insurance normally gives you the money here. And then I bring it to a shop and pay for it.

Really? I don't know how mine works. We'll have to see I'm just glad it covers it, or I don't know what I would do. At least they gave it a nice wash when I stopped through, they seem like a great place. I just want the damn thing back so I can body lift it in a few months. I'm sick of driving the 4 banger.

You think they would do it if I asked them? I doubt they would if they weren't going to in the first place.. I think hes just getting replacement parts either by order or the junk yard right down the street from the Collision center, I was looking through the papers he gave me and it said, " grill assembly" order by color or something like that. I think there just going to go with the original parts on it. I'll give him a call and ask him tomorrow.

Ask and ye shall receive. Pay the difference out of pocket if you have to.

How much do you think that would be? I doubt I would have to pay difference dunno, I'll have my dad ask them tomorrow since he has to call them about our insurance anyways. I'd love to get the power dome hood and honey comb grill I've wanted those things since I bought that truck. Hope I can get it..

The hood might cost extra, but the grille might be cheaper or the same price. Never hurts to ask.

The hood may cost a little more, but tell them to get it and you'll pay the difference. Most repair shops will work with you like that. Do the same with the grill. I wouldn't think between the two you'd end up paying more than $200.

Sounds like a good plan, I will talk to the guy tomorrow about it. Thing is I don't actually know if he will be replacing the entire hood or just taking the dents out of it? How much would that hood go for regularly? say from a junk yard? I really want those 2 things now good idea.

The hood will cost more I imagine, due to the fact the entire thing will have to be painted,so that's extra cost just in material and labour.

Find your own powerdome at a JY and bring it to them and I bet they would paint it and put it on for cheaper then a stock non powerdome would cost.

Body shops buy all new parts from wholesalers. Meaning cost are kinda high. It would be cheaper for you to buy the parts and have them paint them and fix the truck. Thats why I like NY and I get the money from my insurance company and I can do the work myself.

I'll see if he can find me one first and I'll pay the difference. I don't have the extra cash at the moment to go out and get one myself, with school and my trying to save for a dirt bike I can't be spending more money on my truck than I have to other than what needs to be fixed. And this hood isn't really nessasary I just wanted it if he could get it for me, and I would pay whatever little money there was extra that I had to pay that insurance wasn't paying for, other than that I was perfectly happy with my old hood and grill, but I will try and get a power dome, I really like those, I'll go talk to the guy today and see if he can get me one and I'll pay the difference. I would imagin those hoods arn't cheap.

Yeah bro thanks for giving me the idea. He said he'd give me a real estimate in 1 or 2 days, I don't care how long the wait is though, I'm getting that hood and grill which I have wanted for a while now.

Me too man, after that i will be body lifting it going to look really good.

For sure, I guess something good came out of all this I honestly thought he wasn't going to do it, since it's probably a hassle to get those parts. He seems like a cool guy though, and knows what he's talking about so thats a good thing. He said I could get those for you no problem so I'm happy

You have to see the good that comes out of the bad, no matter how frustrating it may be when everything's happening.

Happy for you - your truck will be different than the one that got hit - better and more to your satisfaction - that's basically what doing mods is about; changing things - hopefully for the better, to make it more to your satisfacton.

Good luck on everything!

Having to repair or replace something is always the best reason to upgrade it.
