3.0L Vulcan wrecking yard engine problems.
I posted before in a thread about having a 75,000km (46,600mi) 3.0L V6 wrecking yard engine installed in my 2003 B3000 by Fountain Tire in Nisku, Alberta. They guaranteed a solid running engine but this one is giving some trouble. Basically it often cuts power when any more than maybe 1/4 throttle is applied. Sometimes it becomes regular cutting and achieving over 100km/h (60mph) can be impossible. More notably though is the steady carbon blowing out the exhaust pipe. And I mean solid carbon powder. Parked next to the snow bank at the edge of the drive way my brother has watched solid black carbon patches blown into the snow. Like a old diesel or something. Also at low RPM the exhaust note sounds a bit like an old ****** Jeep. Any way if it were not for the carbon and suggestions of running very rich, from the drivers seat it is very much like the symptoms of a clogged fuel filter, cutting power, misfiring under throttle, etc.
There is of course a check engine light on.
I aim to complain at the Fountain Tire head office as the shop refuses to do any more without charging. Also the wrecking yard has a 90 day warranty, I suppose what is actually covered needs to be checked into.
It seems I may be very much up the creek here. What else is to be done? I suppose the best place to start would be a diagnostics tester?
