07 Ranger with HID's

I just recently put a set of 9007 6k HID's in the truck. One thing that drives me nuts is that when they are on, because there is that dome that covers the bulb and make the light reflect back and then out on to the road, There are alot of dark spots on the road. I have HID's on my motorcycle and don't have any issues whatsoever. All I can think is that it's because of the caps inside the housing.

Has anyone taken apart their headlights to remove that dome?

That's actually the first time I've heard someone complain about that. I never thought of that relector causing dark spots

I suppose you could take it out and see what it does

There are dark spots because HIDs create light differently than an a halogen bulb and are not meant to be used in a halogen reflector.
What you are seeing is that the light is concentrated in a lot of spots (light scatter/glare) and not as much in others.

Removing that other reflector is going to blind other drivers even MORE than you already are.

Does your motorcycle have a projector housing?

All the scatter your seeing is what happens when you put a HID in a reflector based headlight that wasn't designed for HIDs.

no it's a regular halogen housing but no cap on it.
