2003 ranger 4.0 Blowing fuse

Hi everyone I just got a 2003 ranger 4.0 4x4 for my sons upcoming bday. The truck only has about 86,000 miles on it but the lady let the truck sit the last several years so I wanted to drive it and make sure there wasn’t anything wrong with it before I turn him loose in it! I’ve put probably a 1000 since getting it and haven’t had any problems until the last week.

I drove it to the dr the other day and it quit I threw it in park and it started back but died a couple minutes later so I pulled over and it started back up. It drove fine for a couple of days and then quit again this time it wouldn’t crank or anything! We trailered it home to find that fuse 19 (I think) going to my starter was blown. We replaced the fuse and the starter for good measure but drove the truck about 7 miles where it then blew the fuse again so we had another with us and replaced it but just as soon as I went to start it that one blew as well. It only seems to be blowing fuses when it gets warm bc you can start the truck and will run when cold for a few miles until it gets warm and then blows the fuse every time! Please help I’m at my wits end with this truck! Thanks in advance!

Not an expert by any means, but if your blowing fuses for same electrical component, it sounds like you have a bad ground/short in the wiring for whatever fuse 19 is.
Could be something as simple as a loose wire, aor dirt/grease around the ground connection. Could even be wire within the wire cover has split or broken. Strands within a covering can break and you would never know it without testing.

The fuses that keep blowing have to do with my PCM the best I can tell. I’m getting a guy to check all the grounds and starting there then onto the next thing on the list. Thank you for relying back
