2010 Ford Ranger Mirror LED Turn Signal Install
2010 Ford Ranger Mirror LED Turn Signal Install
For $5 on ebay to buy the lights, I figure "what the heck, let's do this." When I had a 2002 Ranger, connecting the Thunderbolt mirrors was rather easy. This modification will be a wee bit more challenging.
My plan is to unbolt my mirrors, then unclip the mirror and the plastic base plate, lay the LED lights on the back of the plastic, trace the shape, then use a microdrill and razor blade to carefully cut out the shape for the LED lights, then use 3M tape to mount the LED to the glass.
Wiring is my main challenge. The black (negative for the LED) I should be able to tap to the ground of the motor for the power mirror. The red power for the lights needs to be tapped to the turn signals themselves. To do this, I plan to run the wires to the turn signal switch on the steering column. From what I can tell, the front right needs to be tapped to the green/yellow wire, and the front left to the violet/white wire. If Rwenzing has any input or if anyone has the instructions for the Thunderbolt mirrors handy I would love the feedback!

They actually light up in sequence, but I was not able to capture this on the camera (I'm using a 9V battery to light them up, if wondering).
