60 LED SMD PCB Ranger Dome Light Project *Pics*

I bought some copper boards and 5050 SMD LEDs and I wanted to make a few dome lights for my trucks. I designed this circuit board in autocad, and made my own PCB board specifically designed to fit as many LEDs as you can into the ranger domelight.

Here are some photos from the project. I still need to solder the LEDs on as I type this.

Here is the design after first print.

Here I am test-fitting my design (just printed on standard inkjet/copy paper)

Here is the board after acid-etching it onto a piece of copper clad.

In final position (LEDs need to be soldered)

I will update the thread with photos and news as the project progresses.

Holy Crap!

That's gonna be a heck of a lot of LED's.

You're gonna have to require passengers to bring SPF 99 so they don't get a sunburn in there.

What kind of cost is involved in doing this? I ask because I may be interested in buying one at the right price

I spent about 1 hour soldering, 2 hours making the board. Lets see how good this looks when it is done before I start thinking about mass producing. I do have the LEDs already mounted, I just ran out of SMD resistors - I ordered some: They should be here this week... sigh..

Although I do have an excellent idea that will sell like hotcakes probably on this forum, but I'ma keep that secret for right now. This is something you guys have wanted for quite some time (I think) now.

circuitspecialists.com

It has a max of 2.0 amps. The voltage range is 0-18V. It can also limit the current with an adjustable **** (It does this by placing a ceiling on the voltage)

Why buy a power supply, when you can build one? Sadly, i've had the opportunity to do this. Dam class project was all term long.

And on a side note, this is badass JP7! Can't wait to see this thing done.

It was like 50$ and I bought it on an urge. Building something like that would take away from my 'mod time' and 'tuning time'.

The price will probably not be something you want to pay
