95 4wd ranger question...

ok first let me start to say i haven't tested it yet to see if the 4wd is still engagin due to having to prepare for hurricane ike since i live about an hour from the gulf coast in tx where it's bout to hit. i was ridin around last night and i noticed that both the 4 and 4 low light would both blink a couple times, stop, then repeat. now i'm not sure if this is an indicator that there's a possible problem with the transfer case or just a sensor or switch problem. any ideas or anyone have the same thing happen to them?
